NA-122 recount: Ayaz Sadiq gets 134 additional votes
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Inquiry Commission on Saturday completed the process of vote recount and record review in NA-122 constituency in Lahore; report would be submitted to the tribunal next week.
On the orders on election tribunal’s Judge Kazim Malik of, chairman Inquiry Commission Ghulam Hussain Awan completed the procedure of recounting of votes and verification in NA-122 wNAithin 13 days.
According to the sources of investigative team, Ayaz Sadiq’s total vote count exceeded by 134 mounting his votes to 9,006 from 8,872 after record of 284 polling stations was verified whereas voters’ thumb impressions and ID card numbers were also present in the counter file.
Lawyers of both Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) were present as the votes were recounted.
After the recount, Ayaz Sadiq’s lawyer told that the recount affirmed Speaker’s victory in the constituency whereas Khan’s lawyer claimed that the recount revealed massive rigging.
PTI’s central leader Hamid Khan on 15 May called for re-elections in two National Assembly seats of Lahore, NA-125 and NA-122, alleging that massive vote-rigging was carried out in the city.
Tribunal’s judge Kazim Malik had gave out an 18-page verdict ordering the inquiry commission to open up voting bags in NA-122 and recount the votes and also see that how many votes were discarded.
He also ordered to check that how many counter files do not have National Identity Card (NIC) numbers and how many votes have thumb stamps on them.
