Lt Gen Amir is a sensible man with a good head on shoulders. I wish words like these came from politicians of my country. Unfortunately we have no statesmen. Lately I am feeling very pessimistic regarding political reforms in Pakistan. No one from political arena has risen up to the occasion. PML N is doing what it is best in, being Mediocre, petty and insecure party like its leaders. PTI is acting like an adolescent teenager, illdisciplined, pimply, brash and confused like its most supporters. PPP, JI,MQM and rest well they do not even deserve to be mentioned.
There is no indication things are moving in any direction let alone a right direction since the Army decided the only way forward for Pakistan is democracy. Army is still spoon feeding government and except showing an appetite for power Civ government has not demonstrated any capacity to deliver on its own. From CPEC to GeoStrategic issues PML N approach is at best 'Mohalla diplomacy ' with no effective indigenious gameplan. Economy the only domain in total control of civ government is being touted as the greatest turnaround story is in essence nothing more than dancing in tunes of IMF, exessive borrowing and falling oil prices. Bets are rising Pakistan might default on its maturing debts both domestic and international in 2016. IMF and World Bank is painting a rosy picture of Pakistan why wouldn't they? We are good customers.
These circumstances we can have two outcomes. Either the militarymen lose their patience and wrap it up. Disastrous!, or we keep snailing right and left with what we have, hoping and praying someone from the shadows to rise up to the occasion and make democracy a success story in Pakistan as a passively as we are as a nation.
