What's new

Coffee Culture in Pakistan

Nestle is instant coffee. It is atrocious.

Come to this country. We have Mugg and Bean. Amazing; tonnes of local coffee houses are taking it to new levels.

Tea is still king here.

What about green tea....
I like occasionally without sugar.

Jasmine tea is my preference. I drink black tea straight with no sugar or tea. Other is Rooibos tea (red bush tea) which is from a local wild plant which imparts a beautiful aroma and no caffiene.

In Pakistan, Gloria Jeans is one of the most over hyped places for coffee. Horrible taste and sky high prices are chiefly overlooked against burgers bragging rights.

Guys, anyone know the best place for coffee in Lahore and Faisalabad? Would love to take my relatives there next time I visit.

Here in the US, people are addicted to crappy local black drip coffee.

I prefer gourmet coffee (Turkish, Arabic, Canadian, Pacific.) I have both fancy drip coffee and keurig machines.

Coffee is pretty much a necessity if you are in the medical field.

@Pan-Islamic-Pakistan you are a coffee lover too?

Yes, although the best cup of coffee can’t match home-made chai.

There is no such thing as good instant coffee. That freeze drying or whatever they do leaves that yuck aftertaste and removes the nuance from the roast.

I started off on instant coffee. I can never go back now. Gourmet drip all the way.

I could never drink jasmine tea. There is a French tea brand called St. Dalfour which has peach, mango, and rose flavors. Very good.

I’m really into Rooibos. Was drinking it straight until I read that you should put a few drops of lemon.

Is that right? What’s the best way to prepare it?

You can drink it multiple ways; i prefer straight. lemon or honey is other.

I use the pressure kettle - stainless steel 12cup. delivers perfect extract.

For coffee: I dont know where you are located. Here i get Robera coffee from Addis via Gaborone - just amazing. Other is from Rwanda/Tanzania. Just too good to describe. From time to time, i just may find from Zimbabwe. Kenya is so so overrated. I am finishing off Serrano from Cuba - blending in with Rwandan coffee.
