Coca cola has alcohol in it.....

@Vcheng..
I remember feeling tipsy after having benadryl.. does that count? :woot:
Ahh.. but the prize goes to the eggnog I used to have as a kid.. being asthmatic.. along with having chronic sinusitis.
my uncle bought some nice brandy of which two tea spoons were added to this..
those were the most sound sleeps ive ever had..
Still using alcohol in that concentration for medicine is in the haram enclosure..

a lot of cough syrups contain codeine.....that's prob. why u felt that way

though now in a lot of countries, cough syrups containing codeine are usually only given when prescribed professionally

codeine is replaced by phelcodine and MORE or lot of cough syrups now contain phelcodine instead of codeine

this could .. "derail" the thread..
But what about relaxants like lexotanil or xanax?

Considering the vast field of marijuana all over punjab.. we should all be stoned by now.

available like candy over the counter at your local Butt pharmacy....
but generally, something you would want to be prescription only

in Pakistan, there isn't enough concept of prescription anything. If you can afford it, you can get it. That's why some of the rich kids in the country are always gettin high off these pills and imported booze

as for stoned, if you go to upper kurram agency you'll see often tribesmen openly preparing hash and blazing it outside....marijuana in Punjab, no idea. Though the climate would maybe be right to grow it, not sure.

:drag:

this thread is ridiculous.....lol

Hashish is definitely a problem in KP... I have even seen shops with different types and grades of hashish on the shelves and a big sign board on top of the shop saying... Chars...

The shop was close to a mosque actually... LOL

i think that was just product placement..
feeling less than spiritual.. have some reefer.. get high...feel god..

Tired of life.. still a virgin.. want to get to heaven and get it on with those promised hoours?
take an explosive belt.. have some reefer.. blow up.... feel nothing.

I fully expect an e mullah to enter this theat and explode his "Khudkush" Jacket of fatwas, swears and curses any moment now....... and get banned

It's an interesting topic! Everyone's notion of forbidden is a bit different, but I think we can all agree that compounds used for health purposes, under the direction of a doctor, are OK.

The "war on drugs" is relatively new. Up until about 1900 in most places, you could buy anything, openly, if you had the money. Sales of "Infant soothing drops" were brisk, as these contained opium and parents would use them on kids to keep them quiet. Pretty sick stuff. And in England, there was a time when laudanum (tincture of opium) was cheaper than booze by dose, and poor people bought laudanum instead of whiskey.

Food for thought - given that all drugs were legal through most human history, if drugs are so horrific, why didn't mankind become helpless slaves to drugs in 1875? Not saying drugs are good, just that the drug war has hurt an awful lot of people.

LOL, the power of positioning and you just gave it a great twist! :toast_sign:

Years ago, had read a book "The real Coke" about positioning the brand, even those authors could'nt have thought that up.

L-O-L @ "non-addictive" heroin cough syrup

i'm sure "Farbenfabriken" made a good killing (no pun intended) off an ever expanding customer base

For us it is more straight forward... Islam basically came down to protect human life, livelihood, dignity and mind... So anything that messes the human mind is forbidden... these include these drugs of abuse...

There is a misconception amongst a lot of people in Pakistan that Quran forbids alcohol only but in reality the word used in Quran is Khimr which means something that covers... in context something that covers the mind/intellect... this includes all intoxicants... so its not just alcohol... but other substances of abuse also...

Interestingly compared to Europe and America... we are a utopia when it comes to drug abuse in the society... That is actually due to the Islamic influence...
