I advise you to actually read up on IP laws. Here is an eye opener for you. Imagine you are born in some desert where you had no human interaction. Because of pure genius you end up designing the M4. Now you take this design and try to sell it. You will come up against IP laws. If someone has obtained a patent on a design, no one else can make a similar design and sell it. You need to create something completely different.

So you are telling me that you want POF to design something that has not been thought of by the Russians, the Germans, the Americans, the Czechs? In order for POF to invest in any design, that design has to be financially viable. It is not about simply churning out guns for Pakistan Armed Forces. You need money to do anything, and you earn money through exports. Even if you don't export, if any country realizes you are stealing their IP at a national level, they will tighten your screws in international bodies.

Bother to check how many AR are there. Not every company gets the license to design its own AR from original AR designer. I know of IP laws but it doesn't apply in designing your own dam gun.

Lt Gen Bilal Akbar is heading out from his current position. A new chairman POF has been named.


Lt Gen Bilal has been rotating to different positions in very short span of time.

On 24 August 2018, Lt-Gen. Akbar was then posted as the field commander of the X Corps stationed in Rawalpindi as a result of a major command reshuffle.[6]

On 28 December 2018, Akbar was appointed as Colonel commandant of the Mujahid Force Regiment stationed in Bhimber.[7]

On 12 September 2019 Lt Gen Bilal Akbar has been appointed as Chairman POF.

G-3S is the one with collapsible stock.

You don't get new type of small arm that way.

With the kind of huge sized production plant and supporting elements they have,they probably need a designer only.

The manufacturers of original assault rifles are powerful companies in first world countries who have a range of tools to act against you. These range from applying patent and copyright laws to using international trade bodies against you. When you are dependent on the EU to keep their markets open for your products, you can't clone their products whenever you like.

And then there is the issue of manufacturing them. You could try to manufacture them using some old process. The result will not be at par with latest Western products. You will have to go back to them to obtain equipment, you will be dependent on them for materials, you will even be dependent on them for testing processes. And that's because you are not an industrialized nation.

You constantly live in a fairy tale world where you are the princess. Get out of your princess syndrome and see the real world as it truly is.

Why is it that POF and HIT are struggling?? While PAC is doing okay? If your answer is JV with Chinese regarding JF17. Then why POF and HIT have not formed JVs with Bulgarians, Polish, Italians, Ukrainians, Czech and TURKS for their various land vehicles, small arms, subsystems, sensors etc etc??

Calling them the force behind the forces is very nationalistic and optimistic but their performance is dismal.

Making rifles is not my area of expertise. I am not an engineering student.

These childish comebacks/jibes only diminish your stance further and does not do away with the reality that POF is not performing well, failing to innovate and either does not have the requisite talent or not utilizing it.

Yes if this was an upgrade/life extension program for G3 then yes it would be satisfactory.

But here our goal is to replace these rifles with a newer, modern, lighter, modular design ideally our own.

Where is the tooling POF was gonna get from the Czech? If it's not coming why no JVs with another nation to jointly develop and make money from a new battle rifle?

Indians are romancing UAE for their Caracal rifle. Why POF didn't look into a similar venture???
