Hi,

There must be a level of ignorance that posters should refrain from---.

There is NO SUCH THING as a 'cold shoulder' on this visit---.

You heard a few people on the media and you started to own it and wanted to put it on the paper as well---.

Protocol is discussed up front and requested or not requested by the visitor at the discretion of the visitor---.

A quote from a youtube poster TARIQ KHAN

"Trump presented a Balla PTI Election symbol to Imran Khan. Nancy Pelosi wore a green colour shirt. Melania wore a long length skirt in respect of Riyasat Madina. Pompeo said Imran Khan was received like a Rock Star. Trump raised Kashmir as an issue and agreed to visit Pakistan".

I don't watch anything over T.V neither i have any faith on it.
Apart from PR,we have yet to see ground impact like CSF,Zulus & limiting of miscreants role into Afghanistan.

If you believe that blatant PR job, then i must pray for all of us.

Hi,

For that level of ignorance---you only need to pray for yourself---because if you cannot understand that simple thing---praying for others maybe a moot point---.
The type of enlightenment you are experiencing usually comes from deep delusion which our Govt is facing for past 70 years and we can see where we have arrived by following it.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and our beloved Govt.

Actually, both sides must realize that the entire world does not revolve around their side alone, a fact that is perhaps more difficult for USA to grasp, but is also a problem in the Pakistan-centric view as well, perhaps not surprisingly.
@VCheng.
You have been surprisingly placid!!!.I have tended to agree with you more often than disagree recently.
I think from a purely Pak perspective we need to understand a few ground realities.
The Prophet SAW said "A strong Momin is better and more beloved to Allah than a weaker one" Taking it in a worldly sense the upper hand(giving hand) would be better than the lower hand(taking hand). In the US Pak relationship we have always been on the receiving end even when we have delivered to the US. This is more to do with our incompetence and lack of self assuredness than anything else.
At crucial moments in our history we have simply lied down rather than taking a stand and been walked over. This in international and US politics is never respected. For once, on this visit, we have stood up as a team and stated our point of view in one coherent voice. This alone is a huge victory.
Pakistan needs to move out of this taking relationship and mentality and learn to stand on its own feet. Help is required and our brothers in the Gulf have been amazing help to us in this regards not forgetting China of course.
We have gone to the US and I hope and pray said "this is our interest and we can do this to help us and our region".
The question of US aid is a tricky one. I am sure military to military aid will have come under discussion at some stage somewhere. However is it really to our benefit especially since we have begun to make advances of our own. I would suggest getting US help to come out of this financial crisis(IMF &FATF) and ask for what has already been promised. If we get it then fine otherwise move on.
The US can help us by investing in CPEC and in our industrial base. This is where we will reap benefits for our country rather than getting Aid.

Sir, my recent placidity is due to my ongoing recalibration within the limits prescribed onto me by this forum and my realization of the futility to expect any meaningful changes.

Having said that, your hopes of a coherent team standing up as one voice to make for a more balanced relationship between the two countries are well worded, and I can appreciate your intent in saying that. I do not feel any need to make any remarks to the contrary, and make myself a further target of ire and ridicule supported by the management, just to present a more realistic representation of what really went on and what is likely going to happen as a result in the coming months.

History shows us clearly that the pomp and circumstance rolled out for certain countries comes and goes according to what serves US national interests at that moment, and that contains valuable lessons for the observant, yet also provides useful material for the sycophants around those who happen to benefit from such temporary largess to overhype. (I can see that here on PDF too.)

What I will say is that any steps that result in mutually beneficial progress are a good thing indeed. PMIK indeed "conquered" DC and left with useful "understandings" that will pay certain dividends. I can be happy stating that on PDF.

Sir the problem is, THEY know this too! So they never do that, they wont.

They will, if it can be shown that such investment serves their national interest too, most definitely.

Other investments may not be directly in the national interest of US as well but they still get the nod as indirectly the are accomplishing that goal of give and take. However no investment is approved which is"where we will reap benefits for our country rather than getting Aid." as part of that give and take deal.

USA will always do anything and everything that serves its national interests. It is just a matter of making this benefit evident, that is all. Then watch the resources fly.

This is true sir but all i am saying that in some cases, the resources will still fly even if they are not benefiting the US directly but then those will only be on projects that do not ensure what Araz was implying, "reaping maximum benifits".

I am not blaming US for doing this, its their right to work in their own interest. I am just pointing a fact that i have seen first hand.

Those investments that do not benefit USA directly will still be done based on ongoing/durable/strategic relationships, you are correct, and not for transactional/temporary/tactical relationships.

And those investments are NEVER made in areas that result in "reaping maximum benefits". They are always in areas that have little long term implications and are more "aid" oriented rather than "trade" oriented. That is what i was saying to @araz

But again, I am not blaming US for doing this, its their right to work in their own interest, i am just pointing out something i have noticed happening.

Only time will tell if DC was conquered or is it business as usual (the wrong end of the stick). Until then I guess it is happy time...

It won't take long to become evident, either way. For now, we can all feel good.
