Twisting the facts aren't we? 4 out of 10 people.....what about the other 6? That's a majority and it is not under the "multi dimensional poverty"! Also, any other source to back it up with? And yes, we all know its a poor country. But its a poor country where majority of the poor still own their own homes, paid off!! That doesn't exist in the developed world as people have life long mortgages to pay. So equity wise, Pakistan's poor man, is still better than an American counter part in a way that the American average family may be making $ 50 K, but the giant number of taxes, etc, and other things reduces that income by 20-30% and they still pay mortgage, but the Pakistani guy may make $ 200 -600 per month, but at the end, he has his own home. That means built in equity. So the poor doesn't really turn out to be "economically" poor if you can understand Microeconomics. But yes, I agree, no one said that Pakistan has become Australia, but she is headed in the right direction.
Maybe if they would just start focusing more on direct instead of indirect taxes that are anti poor anti middle class we would be able to overcome our tax issue
Who is "they"?? There is a taxation system in Pakistan working since the British times. You inherited it like India. India went up to the moon economically, with the same tax code, and you are just talking, and so are many others.
Its almost like instead of working hard, you guys want to blame the system. Smart people and nations use the system that they have, work hard and know the system has worked for other poor nations like India, back in the day, South Korea, Sri Lanka, etc.
