There are provisions for drains in all major projects, but over time, these are all choked with garbage and plastic bags thrown about by the people themselves who then suffer when the rains come.

It isn't like this doesn't happens anywhere else or it's the first time, maintenance is the governments job.

Yes...Are you saying we have good drainage but the people clogged it up? If that is the case...where is the bloody municipal to take care of the public garbage at least on the main roads.? Next question is it enough to block down a significant part of Lahore... Provisions set aside should also include maintaining...

Maintenance is an important aspect that is routinely ignored.

So planning gone wrong? Who planned and who was supposed to check things?

All that will take many billions of dollars to make.

But metro bus was made free of charge right?

In UAE they treat the sewerage water for landscaping purposes. the water is used for irrigation of public gardens and parks and road side greenery and the sludge produced during the process is transformed into a sort of manure again used for irrigation purposes.

Only if the sewerage water goes about the handling capacity of the sewerage processing plants it is then flowed towards the sea through pipes.

Also before rains, all the municipality departments are put on alert days before it rains.

Thats the system employed in desert like areas where water is scarce and valued not in places like Pakistan where you go water water everywhere yet not a single clean drop to drink!

It is the govt's job to teach the people of new stuff in a system..if not throwing trash on the street is new to the people....then teach them educate them why is govt soo reluctant to spend a dime on education?

this I already went on and on about in few threads and even in real life...yet no response from a dead govt.

This is the irony, in this part of the world we do not hear of people having no access to clean water even though water is scarce but in a country like Pakistan where there are rivers, dams, lakes and the constitutional right to free access to clean water:

15 million in Pakistan without improved drinking water.

91 million in Pakistan without improved sanitation.

There are drains, but they are overwhelmed by the large amounts of garbage and the low amounts of maintenance. And this state of affairs is true no matter who is in power.
