Yes you are right, it got destroyed on the Pakistani occupied side when Punjabis started filling in masses there. Today, The majority of the population of P0K is culturally, linguistically, and ethnically related to the people of northern Punjab.

Indian Kashmir maintained its fabric till late 80's and then Pakistan with their newly gained assets from Afghan war started sending terror and destroyed the culture there.. We are now moving Kashmiri Pandits back to restore the revered Kashmiri culture.. That will never be possible on the other side of border..
