Rumours and facts and information and disinformation are pouring out about the latest controversy involving Malik Riaz Hussain (founder of Bahria Town) and Arsalan Iftikhar, son of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
The one question that boggles every observing and thinking mind is "Why"? Why Malik Riaz trapped Arsalan Iftikhar into such a well-orchestrated trap and why he made all these documentary and video/audio proofs of the dealings?
Here we try to connect the dots step-by-step.

9 March 2008 (Murree):
PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif held talks in Murree for a coalition govt at federal as well provincial level. Malik Riaz Hussain was the witness-cum-guarantor to the accord between the two parties, finalized in the symbolic presence of the Holy Quran (brought by Malik Riaz). The accord involved a pledge by Zardari to re-instate the superior judiciary judges deposed by General Musharraf on Nov 3 2007.
The accord eventually collapsed as Zardari refused to honour his commitment on restoration of judges (and it turns out Malik Riaz actually played with Nawaz on behalf of Zardari, against the judiciary).
16 March 2009:
Under pressure from the people of Pakistan marching from Lahore (and the Army too), Zardari govt announced the restoration of all deposed judges. However, he had already decided to teach the judiciary a lesson. In this task, Malik Riaz lent him a helping hand on the condition that his interests will be served too. Knowing very well that Justice Iftikhar won't budge when it comes to moral and financial integrity, it was decided to target the weak link in the family, the young and ambitious Arsalan Iftikhar.
He was somehow lured into the construction business through Malik Riaz's front men. Later on Ahmad Khalil (a businessman from Lahore) was used to finance foreign tours of Arsalan Iftikhar alongwith family.
While this Trap-the-CJ project was underway, an incident happened that made Malik Riaz furious as hell. 5 people were killed when they were hit by a sports car during a drag car race in Bahria Town Rawalpindi on 5 December 2010.

In this accident a banker Babar Khan, official of Askari Bank Limited, was also killed alongwith his son.
The police and govt (both Federal and Punjab) tried to hush the matter as a routine accident. However, upon receiving a complaint, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry took Suo motu notice of the incident.

Ali Riaz Malik, Chief Executive Bahria Town (only son of Malik Riaz) was nominated alongwith Atif Sheikh (Son-in-Law of Tariq Aziz, former Musharraf right-hand). The apex court ordered govt and police to nab the culprits.

.The deceased Babar Khan was manager of the branch where Malik Riaz kept his bank accounts and Babar Khan had important info about money laundering by Malik Riaz to the tune of tens of billions of rupees. For this precise reason, it was believed that he was target killed in this staged Car Accident by Ali Riaz Malik.
An important Punjab Govt personality helped Ali Riaz Malik to escape from Pakistan through Lahore.

Although Ali Riaz fled Pakistan but was brought back on the orders of the SC.

The case was heard but eventually, under pressure from govt and Malik Riaz's goons, the families of the deceased agreed to an out-of-court settlement. So SC referred the case to a lower trial court for further processing.

Malik Riaz who thought nobody (Govt, Military, Judiciary, Media) could ever touch him or his family, was shocked by this action of the SC.
With this personal grudge added, he started working harder and smarter on the Trap-the-CJ project. He made documentary evidences, videos etc of all dealings with Arsalan Iftikhar.
After completing his homework, Malik Riaz started contacting and taking on board the media anchors and journalists (many of whom were already obliged by him in the form of expensive property gifts and favours).
This is what PTI Chairman Imran Khan said about the conspiracy on 31 May 2012.

After almost a month of silent campaigning, Malik Riaz convinced the journalists to go public with the allegations against Arsalan.
Jang / GEO Media Group journalists Shaheen Sehbai and Kamran Khan were the first to go public with this scandal, on 5 Jun 2012. The same night Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took Suo motu notice against his own son and asked Arsalan and Malik Riaz to appear before the SC.

On 6 Jun 2012, Arsalan Iftikhar appeared before the court but Malik Riaz remained absent on medical grounds. Arsalan Iftikhar pleaded NOT GUILTY in the case while CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry categorically made clear that Justice will be done regardless of who the culprit is.
On 7 Jun 2012, CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry distanced himself from the hearing of the case and left the case to other judges.

there is another angle to the story which says that Zardari used his friend Malik Riaz to expose these journalists who have been speaking against him, in order to do that Malik Riaz would simply deny all the allegations put forward by the journalists and by that Zardari would use SC to get rid of these journalists... who by then maybe exposed more by Malik Riaz (who knows alot, only needs to leak information)

if true its again a great move by Zardari, used his opponents to get rid of another opponent.

I must say in power politics he is a genius, no one has been able to predict him so far.. !!

For all his wrong doings, Zardari is as clever as a fox.

If this is indeed the plan, then it seems to be working, because on Geo program lekin, Hamid Mir was fighting with some other journo.

Although i still think it was against the CJ.

THe thing that goes with the army is, and Najam Sethi said the same thing, that this plot has been going on for 3 years, and the army had no problem with the CJ 3 years back, the balochistan cases have been taken up only recently, and the CJ and Army were close 3 years back, so no reason why Hamid Mir says the army is behind this, because 3 years back, army and judiciary were very good with eachother, but the government was not.

And the excuse that hamid mir puts up is that only ISI could make videos in England!!! Then why did we see the NOTW operation against Aamir, Asif and ****, those were also taped! So, it ain't a really difficult thing.

Another developing story is that a friend of Arslan, Ahmed Khalil or something, was doing all the payments and handling the finances, and when Arsalan asked him that who is paying the bill, the firend assured him that it was the company money, and the credit card was his, while in reality, it was of Malik Riaz and co.

Time for the journalists to stop acting like leaders and more like journos. Everybody says that nobody is a sacred cow, but IMO, the media is the biggest one. Time to declare their assets and source of income as well. Some journos agree with this.

And the SC is no sacred cow either, nor is the CJ or anybody.

Let's hope this isn't a classic case of media long term memory loss, that they forget the issues, like memogate etc etc. Memogate is now forgotten from TV!!! And when the media asks for a report of the air crash, they make a huge noise over it, and when the report finally comes, they dont do shyte, not even a mention.

Alot of things might be uncovered!!

It is a case of alleged bribery, which CJ family denies.

While Rehman Malik have forensic and perhaps video evidence too.

Credit cards used by CJ family belong to Malik Riaz, who says he have no evidence but he cannot deny that his money was not spent by CJ family. If he deny than he is clearly being ill advised by his lawyer or is being black mailed.

Going in to the personal life of Malik Riaz or his history are two separate issues and obviously PTI who jumped from beginning is doing some damage control by pulling Malik Riaz's connection with every one.

PTI is simply playing lowly politics, with no substance and no grip of the issue.

It is clear that CJ have no options but to negotiate terms with PPP, or accept disgrace.
The most honorable proposition for CJ is that he try his best to distance him self from his son. This is the point where APML have disagreements and PTI stand to loose face over reinstatement row and undemocratic removal of last president.

While PTI calling it conspiracy is absurd. Every one is responsible for his acts. Until judiciary came up with new interpretation of law.

I have a disclosure to make that in my early youth, I have also received gifts from Malik Riaz

He was not that rich but still he came to our house twice and gifted bags full of Philips lamps.

I was merely 18 years old and had no understanding of the issue.

BTW.. in history Nawaz Sharif and Hassan Nisar were his biggest enemies and NAB was ordered to get this guy by hook or crook.
I think both N.Sharif and Hassan Nisar are still not his friends, its only Shabaz Sharif who have used Malik Riaz for his personal gains like every one else.

THE revelations of WikiLeaks have taken the world by storm and embarrassed the Obama Administration in the United States. But when I look at the content of the leaked American diplomatic cables regarding Pakistan and Afghanistan, I feel nothing new in them.

The Army Chief calls the shots in Pakistan and it’s a universal truth. How the generals play double games, that’s also known by everyone. So whatever the former American Ambassador has reported from Islamabad (in the leaked cables), is actually an open secret in our country. For journalists, researchers and historians, these cables have value just because responsible diplomats of the Super Power have documented them in a bureaucratic way—thus they’re citation material for everyone.

I feel, many things, being discussed in a journalistic circle, are missing in the WikiLeaks. I want to count a few of them in this blog in the hope that The Terrorland Team (TTT) will not edit them. Discussing such things will bring the hidden truth out. Only truth can make national organizations credible and stronger; hiding them will bring more embarrassments to Pakistan in the future!

Here are some stories which the WikiLeaks missed:

1- The military establishment allowed the Taliban to takeover Swat region to deceive the American Administration and get funds for fight terrorism. When the Taliban were entering Swat region, a very professional Deputy Superintendent (DSP) of the regional police told the government to allow him, to stop advancement of the Taliban. The high-ups told him shut-up it was a strategy of the military establishment. Then the DSP was transferred to another region.

2- A follower of Maududi — Godfather of Pakistan Army & al-Qaeda — was appointed as Commissioner of the region, who allegedly facilitated the Taliban's takeover of Malakand Region and then the so-called military oppression against the Taliban started.

3- Militant leader Maulana Sufi Muhammad, also a follower of Maududi, was given full security with a chauffeur-driven land-cruiser by the Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) so that he could terrorize the people to leave region. Later, the military media cell gave the faked news of the death of Sufi’s son and son-in-law (even now Sufi is said to be a valued guest of the ISI like Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan).

4- When a straightforward Pashtun Major-General wanted to finish the reign of Taliban the tribal areas, he was transferred to downtown—but he refused, saying that until he finishes the enemies of Pakistan, he couldn’t leave the battleground. However, later, he was tactfully packed off—

5- After becoming President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari allegedly demanded Rs. 2 billion from a well-known real-estate tycoon, Malik Riaz of Bahria Town. (It could be commission or bribery as Mr. Zardari was known as Mr. 10 Percent when his wife Benazir Bhutto was Prime Minister of Pakistan) Without payment, the tycoon was told, he couldn’t continue his lucrative business in His Majesty Zardari’s domain! The tycoon refused. But when the Presidency threatened him to deposit the said amount in a given account, Malik Riaz suffered a heart attack but, fortunately, survived due to in-time treatment.

6- After recovery, the first thing Malik Riaz (the tycoon) did was calling the brother of Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani—and offering him partnership in the huge real-estate business. (The tycoon has reportedly also given shares to the management of the National Press Club Islamabad to amalgamate the Media Town with his Bahria Town) After this strategy of the tycoon, President Zardari kept silent (at least for the time being).

7- Another thing which was talk of the journalistic community about two years back was that ISI chief Lt-Gen. Ahmad Shuja Pasha owns many commercial plazas in the twin-cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. One of his commercial plazas is situated near the PIA office in Saddar area of Rawalpindi, where the Dawn Media Group had also its Bureau Office. A serving Major of the Pakistan Army had been assigned to collect rent from the tenants at the beginning of every month.

So these things are missing in the WikiLeaks. What’s the truth? The 180 million people of Pakistan want to know it. I hope President Zardari, Gen. Kayani and Lt-Gen. Pasha wouldn’t hesitate to tell the truth in this regard as the global scenario is changing rapidly... and eyes of the whole world are fixed on Pakistan’s ruling class.
