What's new

Circular debt reaches Rs521 Billion just a year after Rs500 Billion cleared by #PMLN.

. .
lol what has PPP to do with this? It wasnt PPP who payed 500billion to Mia Mansha

Bound to happen if people choose gov't like PPP. PMLn can't fix the clutter. They must go after bijli chor and also remove subsidies.

PPP didn't resolve energy crisis when it was growing at large scale. PMLn can't fix everything in just around a year. The circular debt was there before PMLn came.

Here's another example. You're a potian I assume. How would you feel when PMLn has taken all this debt and during next term PTI has responsibility to pay all of it? You can't blame the current gov't for everything. PPP has big hand in energy crisis and PMLn will have big hand in debt problem for the next gov't.

And what's this $5 billion dollar payment to mia mansha?

Power houses are producing Electricity our current capacity is 22000 MW the main problem is our Transmission system which cannot even support 15000 MW as Abid Sher Ali said... previous Gov's didn't focus on Transmission lines... No matter what you do you will see circular debt increasing unless you do some work to upgrade previous lines or make new ones... I remember i read that Neelum Jehlum Dam all they focused on is to build a dam not even thought about transmission lines...

As far as I remember, PML-N govt started a massive anti power theft campaign in Punjab with lots of news were coming up on daily basis about XYZ factory has been raided for power theft and sealed. What happened to all that, it was in limelight for only a couple of months or so. Maybe that was shut down because every now and then someone from PML-N was caught stealing electricity in his factories in Punjab..

About circular debt, it was bound to happen because nothing was practically done to fix the causes that create this circular debt. How many times, IMF is going to bail you out?

Nice, so what exactly PML-N govt has done about this during past 14 months? You've spent more than 20% of your governance time, and you haven't done anything about this core issue? Good going..

No idea why potians blame N for mess created by PPP/Mushy. At least look at how many new power projects N have started in just one year. And construction on Bunji, Basha and Dasu will finally start this time around.

I was very much against PML-N initially, but they've done a good job. Don't blame the current power problems on them, PPP did NOTHING for 5 years (not to mention being a complete embarrassment on the international scene). PML-N have taken some positive steps, if you think the problem is going to be sorted in a year then you're a fool. This will take 5-10 years at least. The biggest obstacle is Pakistani mentality, i.e. scam the government out of taxes, bills etc. Start paying your electricity bills, pay the correct tax and then watch.

Good governance is the biggest obstacle. Pakistan would be a tax free country, if only resources are managed properly. There are a few tax free countries in the world, they are able to have tax free regimes because they manage their resources properly and for the benefit and well-being of their people.

There are no tax-free countries. There are countries that have renamed taxes to fees, however.

Saudi has no income tax, no tax on food items & petrol. 'Processing Fees' are fine in my opinion (for example, getting a registry for a purchased house/property), as these are service charges but should be fair to cover the services and nothing more. I am referring to the big chunk of direct and stealth taxes.

In Pakistan, just look at Electricity/Gas bills and it is awful and ridiculous to see the list of boxes for taxes!
