CIA Incompetent or complicit

I have noticed numerous references to Sept 11 was a set up and that in some way CIA was complicit. I think that is outrageous and probably not true. But then if they were not assisting and helping in the destruction of the twin towers they must have been grossly incompetent. I mean after all some of the terrorists were under their watch. I would love to see your comments CIA and Americans complicit or incompetent. What do you think?

I would say complicity because 9/11 actually peddled the american policy of global war and benefitted them in every way by making their entry in central asia and persian gulf.

CIA warned Bush administration that something terrible is going to happen inside USA prior to 9/11:

And CIA also knew about the ground realities in Iraq. It was tasked with building a reason to justify the invasion of Iraq.

Blame Bush for incompetency and not CIA.

CIA is likely the most powerful and successful intelligence agency in the world.

The Pakistan phase of WOT is completely CIA led program. And you have seen what this agency can do. Within a span of few years, CIA has shown that it no longer depends upon ISI for conducting military operations inside Pakistan. It can do what even ISI cannot do. And this also led to Operation Neptune Spear.

It was incompetence on the part of Bush. CIA warned him before hand. The president should not have taken the threat lightly and he should have considered some drastic security measures in response. 9/11 was not the first time that WTC was targeted. It was an obvious picking. All the places that got hit during 9/11 episode were high value targets and those should have been strongly protected at least.

However, a reason for Bush taking the warning lightly can be that USA had virtually no 'external threat perception' in its territory prior to 9/11. The pearl harbor like episode was not expected. USA was considered to be a land of dreams and opportunities prior to 9/11. Immigration to US was encouraged.

Of-course, a few 'traiters' would have facilitated 9/11 attacks.

Neither do I actually. But the americans do this type of propaganda dont they and we dont like it either. In fact I was using their accusation against ISI of competent or complicit in the Osama episode. In all their propaganda sheets aka known as western papers they were doing exactly this with us,

No 2 thoughts.. Caught with their pants down..But unlike people in our subcontinent who are experts at finding excuses and hence are cursed with multiple repeats of the same atrocity like bomb blasts and terror attacks, Americans are pretty good in plugging the holes and going on offensive.. Thats why there hasnt been a second 9/11 and most of the terror attacks and deaths since then have happened in Muslim countries like Iraq/Afg/Pak etc
