Indian army unit which participated in Chumar Op was 2 Dogra which had only 18 fatal casualties in entire 1989 (of which 7 were from non hostile causes like snowslides)

FYI of the the 6 PA casualties in this Op, 4 were from an avalanche and 1 from a cardiac arrest. Besides a section of Ladakh Scouts was also swept away enroute.

Indians carried out a fire raid using artillery on Kausar base which was used to sustain our troops on Naveed Top. Kausar base was neutralized. We then vacated the area, since sustaining troops in this area is already very difficult.

Haven't heard of this name before. Could be though, I asked from Lt Naveed unit, 9 AK, found no mention of this name.

problem is that Armies/soldiers give their own names to tops...like quaid post (now banna post) was on saltoro kangri...the highest peak in siachin/saltoro.

i am pretty sure it is the chumik kangri by seeing the image in ur slide,,,u can match the feature on google earth with ur presentation. i was wondering since morning who has this feature...now its clear its with the indians.
after demilitirizing this area in 1989, the indians recaptured it in june 1999
