I wish UN bans countries from membership who institute laws based on religious or ethnic bigotry.

If a province or state is involved in large scale cleansing of their fellow citizens, they should be given 6 months notice to clean up the laws.

And if they do not, such countries should be boycotted from air, sea and internet contact with the rest of the world. Total isolatio until such barbaric laws are repealed.

And if any country elects them in defiance of the global laws of humanity, then the country should be sanctioned 100%.

Last weekend we had our Christian neighbors over for Aftar Dinner.

They do the same for Christmas.

Most of the guys and gals in our family have benefited from catholic schools and education.

So you know I have expressed my harsh feeling about blasphemy

But as an Indian you should not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Talking about 47 in every damned thread is now boring.

These migrations are both due to persecution AND due to economics.


Millions of Indians and Chinese are running away from their motherlands. Why?

Are they being persecuted? Hopefully not.

We , Al-Qitab and Al-Muslim come from the same prophet Abraham. Christians refer to him as Father Abraham, Jews call him Avrahom, and Muslims call him Ibrahim. That's nice to hear.

What you mean is that all is almost hunky dory. Just the blasphemy law needs tweaking and rest will be ok.

Just a little delay in getting stability in the government and then all things will be back to the way it should be.

And, damn opportunistic of those Christians and Hindu's to fake persecution and seek asylum in other countries for economic reasons. I agree with you, - it's not as severe as it seems - one or two cases of persecution or forceful conversion or killing and the minorities make a molehill out of it.

But one thing puzzles me is why would they fake persecution in their thousands and risk their lives on dangerous boats and journeys and also give up their entire lives savings and in most cases selling their houses or meager belongings to buy a ticket out of Pakistan only for economic reasons - when they stand a chance of being deported back if found fake.

Instead of all this hardships and in some cases certain death like their long journeys to Australia or Canada they can take the legal route for economic reasons.

I hear from some of the Pakistani Hindu's from among the thousands who have reached India that some have even left some of their kids behind because they couldn't afford to bring them or they couldn't get travel docs in time, and they don't intend to go back for them.

The problem is they are ready to put up with adverse conditions in refugee camps or rundown shelters for years together to avoid going back - doesn't look too economically enterprising to me.

Just like what Sri Lanka intends to do with the 1500 Christians and Ahmedi's that supposedly "fled" Pakistan?.

I hope that Pakistan gets their archaic stone age laws tweaked as you say - so that most of this persecution drama and fake allegations of atrocities go away.

Also, I think you are right, it's similar to how millions of Indians and Chinese are running away from their motherland - millions of Pakistani's also run away in a similar fashion plus these asylum seekers.

It's high time to scrap the blasphemy law. It is done an untold amount of harm. As for the terrorists, well we are moving in the right direction.

How Pakistan has fallen from a place where our Christian folks proudly proclaimed they were from, but now some are running away from.

I think the Peshawar Church attack was the culmination of this I think.
