Chinese women are more ambitious than Americans

I personally think that this is more of a cultural thing but the liberation of women following 49 definitely made it possible. Orientals (I'm not really a good example) are typically hardworking and in the past Chinese women are expected to work hard in the kitchen. After the revolution they simply channelled their energy to other fields. There has been a liberation of women in the West as well but females in the states are generally more fun loving. Just some personal observations.

明智的女人会选择潜力股 =)

Judging by whats on display here it appears to be a bear market - investor confidence must be at an all time low

I do however start to feel a worrying trend in some of the modern cities like shanghai and chongqin. The people are getting materialistic in a beyond healthy sense. We need to find a goal in life other than making more money.

I think deng's slogan "getting rich is glorious" may still apply in rural areas where standard of living is below national average but we need to invigorate the rich cities. Officials certainly don't need to get more glorious then they already are.

We can't just keep making money and become complacent like some of our opium smoking ancestors, and we can't keep our heads in the sand. There is I think two major problems surfacing in china that is becoming an strong unhealthy undercurrent - Namely improper acquisition of money and improper views on women. I actually supports government ban on internet ****. The damage it causes is worse for people with low education level.

do I sound like an old fart?

wrong just bashing below-freezing who seems to think women are gold diggers..

Nah he's just reporting on the fact that Chinese woman take industrious and career success more into consideration when picking a mate. I'd hardly compare that with LA style gold-diggers.

And to everyone else, I'm sure Chocolate isn't some kind of anti-china racist, relax.

How ambitious are American men? they'd rather watch sports, drink beer and get fat off burgers than do real work. i hope this continues though. soon the US will collapse from the rot on the inside. USA, 1776-2020. going the way of teh soviets.

Dude,

some people here might get offended.

That is too much generalization.

No your concerns are very valid. While many Chinese women are getting industrious there is no shortage of "money chasers" either. A lot of young women chase after older men who have luxury cars and houses. There are a lot of great things that China could learn from the West and I don't think hedonism is one of them.

My dear DBC, i think google translate once again betray you, actually what below freezing meant was women will choose men likely to have more potential, not relating to gold diggers at all. Rich men could be born rich, not neccessary will have the potential women looking for. :azn:

No you don't sound like an old fart at all. Your points are very good.

The problem regarding materialism and "finding a more important goal in life".... that applies all over the world though. It's a global problem that needs a global solution.

The city of Hong Kong for example has quite a materialistic culture, however I don't think that has increased immoral behaviour to any significant extent. The crime rate in Hong Kong is one of the lowest in the world, next to Japan.

I do agree that there are more important things in life than making money, however surely it's good to aim to achieve both at the same time? The problem is not people who are trying to be rich and successful, the problem is people who are willing to hurt other people in order to get rich.

Women in Hongkong will be a better fit for the topic.:azn:
"ambitious" are their natural instinct.:hang2:

There are no shortage of men with loose view on women either. I noticed from observing others that womanising have quite a negative effect on men.

酒色磨损男子气

Being 'good' with women doesn't make you manly, infact it wears your ambition off. Don't you find that men in cities are actually quite sissy, especially the young ones? Compare them to say country boys who actually plow the fields.
