A Chinese troupe on a visit to Pakistan was treated to the many colours of Pakistani culture as they visited the Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) on Wednesday, said a press release issued by Lok Virsa.
Ministry of National Heritage and Integration Federal Secretary Faridullah Khan accompanied the 14-member delegation of the Guangdong Art Troupe, headed by Department of Culture of Guangdong Province Deputy Director by Yang Shu.
On arrival, the delegates were welcomed by traditional drummers, dressed in bright regional attire.
Executive Director Khalid Javaid briefed the delegation about the functioning of Lok Virsa and how they deal with documentation, preservation and dissemination of the cultural heritage of the country. He also shed light on the significance of Pakistans centuries-old cultural relations with China.
The delegation was taken around various cultural and three-dimensional creative displays at the museum showcasing the living indigenous folk culture and lifestyles of the people of Pakistan including remote regions.
The members of the delegation took keen interest in the cultural displays, especially the section that houses artefacts contributed by the Chinese government as a gift. Folk artists presented famous numbers on the occasion.
Earlier, the delegation also visited Pakistan Monument Museum adjacent to National Monument where Faridullah Khan held a meeting with them.
The museum depicts history, struggle for freedom, emergence and development of Pakistan through 3-dimensional dioramic displays.
