Chinese threat looms large

I think if there was a forum where folks like me and you could contribute to our respective countries, it may be beneficial. But China is already doing that tapping its huge expatriate population for ideas, solutions, and answers. India on the other hand is F--ked up by incompetent public servants who have a very narrow view. There are smart folks there but many defense related decisions lead to believe that there is a lack of exposure at least in the past defense establishments. I mean I don;t have to be a genius to point out better way of doing things.

@ topic.

Let's just put it this way, any bookies would gladly lay 100:1 odds against a Sino-Indian war during any given year.

Indian civil servants are the root of almost all things wrong in this country. The system of civil servants was put in place by the British to rule a colony not to govern an independent republic - I am stumped that this outdated system is still used.

But civil service can be beneficial if it s used like the Chinese. Even now I think thats where most their corruption lies, but during the times of Confucius it was actually a good system to identify the best candidates.

Does the civil service require exams in India?

.
Yes but their system is very corrupt with folks paying for high marks....cronyism, etc.....Indians need to be re-educated in a camp

Yea, they do. But just too much power is vested in the hands of these civil servants. Read this book - English, August by Upamanyu Chatterjee

This is my take on it.

The civil service worked well for the British because British interests is quite apart from the interests of the civil servant. The British were using it as a mechanism to exploit the Indian population therefore they would crack down on inefficiency and corruption within the civil service as they occurred. (British -> Civil service -> Indian population)

But if the civil service is suppose to serve the people and exploit the the people, the whole system breaks down (Indian population -> Civil service -> Indian population) or more realistically (Civil service -> Indian population)

Yea, that pretty much sums it up. It is high time India trash the Westminster system and adopt the American one
