Why doesn't Russia have enough of it's own hogs? It's got plenty of land to raise them on.

The desired level of food security achieved for the grain, sugar, potatoes, sunflower oil, poultry. However, the problem still remains with meat - Russia exports about 30% of the meat.
But the work is carried out, each year the production grows.

That's a good sign, if Russia can be less reliant importing meat then China can cut down export and keeping the price down for the China market. Why was the agriculture almost destroyed after USSR collapsed?

Everything was almost destroyed, not just agriculture. It was a disaster of Biblical proportions, worse than World War II or the Revolution of 1917.

Just look at the map. The country has become much smaller after 1991 and lost 50% of the population. It is the worst disaster since the Great Troubles of 1612 and the Mongol invasion of the 13th century.

In that sense, yes. Gorbachev's experimentation of Perestroika and Glasnost backfired on him and on the entire Soviet establishment. It would have been better if there were gradual reforms implemented. But at the same time, the Eastern block's communist establishment was crumbling. These are realities that cannot be ignored.

That was a bit harsh don't you think? It was in the early 1990s that Russia experienced a massive food shortage, considering that Russia had lost its links to former territories , which had agricultural output...

Pigs are pretty hardy and one doesn't have to keep them outside as they don't require much space. Bear meat is tasty though. I've eaten American black bear meat.

Bear meat is one of the best. I bet the bear meat in Russia is to die for. I think they are renowned for their Brown Bear Hunting, too.

There are plenty beef on Chinese market smuggled from India and Brazil, since beef is so expensive in China and 6 countries have granted permission to export beef to China.

The pro-West liberals in every country all have the same agenda; it is to destroy the agriculture sector of the country.

The liberals in China also always suggest to get rid of the self-sufficient agriculture. They are all traitors to their country.

The Ukrainian hog is very tasty, we did have introduced this species into our farmland back in the 1950s.

I remember when I visited St Petersberg in the 1990s. There was nothing in food shops. It's a shame for Russians who own such big fertile land and could not produce enough food! It's still the case! You need to import nothing if you are a really good russian.
