HIGHLIGHTS
  • India, China troops engage in heated exchange in eastern Ladakh
  • Face-off after Chinese objected to patrol by Indian soldiers in the area
  • Issue resolved during delegation-level talks between the two sides

Tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) flared up on Wednesday following a face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh. The standoff that lasted a day, however, ended after delegation-level talks were held.

The Indian and Chinese troops were reportedly engaged in a confrontation near the northern bank of the Pangong lake in Ladakh, two-thirds of which is controlled by China.

Army sources said tensions escalated when Indian troops on patrol were confronted by the soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army of China. This resulted in a scuffle with the two sides sending more soldiers to the area, sources added.

"There was a face-off between the two armies but it got over after the delegation-level talks between two sides. The face-off is over now and it had de-escalated and disengaged fully after delegation-level talks yesterday [Wednesday]," the Indian Army said.

Incidentally, the confrontation took place in the same area where Indian and Chinese troops had engaged in a bitter scuffle during the Doklam standoff.

The Indian Army has said similar incidents can take place along the LAC in view of its exercise next month.

The Army had on Wednesday announced its plan to hold an exercise in Arunachal Pradesh. The Indian Army had said war games will be organised in Arunachal Pradesh starting October in which the Indian Air Force and the Army will jointly exercise real war scenario inside the Indian territory.

This comes around a month ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on October 10-12 near Chennai. Line of Actual Control (LAC) stability and trade ties are likely to be the focus of discussion when PM Modi meets Xi Jinping.

Soldiers of Doklam standoff interviewed by Chinese TV said that their guns are loaded and they were ready for a shootout and die for the country when the scuffle fight happpened in Doklam. Those scuffles are very dangerous cause soldiers from both sides are fully armed, one trigger happy hot headed soldier from either side can trigger a war.

Backing is different than being on the ground and facing realities. US isn't stepping foot in India even if it leads to India's destruction

US will not help India on a war with China and India will most likely lose that war. So if Russia doesn’t help to stop the war, then India will run into US hands. That war if it goes as I mentioned would most likely will change India’s foreign policy such that India would ditch Russia for US and would consider joining some kind of military alliance with US. So everything will play out as US wanted.

Why would Chinese and Indian fight for some spare chunk of land when they could gain so much more with trade and relationship ?Fanboys want a war but in reality both countries are mature, resolve this through dialogue.

Indians are frighten to shoot chinese.
They can only dare to shoot at civilians of 6 times smaller nation.

That would the wise thing to do. India and China should do some kind of land exchange and in the process of India has to give up more land so bit it as it would take their relationship to a new level which would be killer blow to Pakistan.

The entirely of pangong lake is chinese territory. Also city of leh is falls under chinese territory as well. All the lakes in ladakh and water bodies there belong to tibet historically hence china's territory.

Chinese will take all budhist regions into tibet for sure. That's where they belong. Thank God we signed tready of frenship with china in 1963 otherwise they would take hunza by force from us too. Now they are our friends and they let go of claim on hunza valley.

They only claim pamir in tajikistan, ladakh in kashmir , 50% himachal and 100% arunachal and sikkim

.
Have these skirmishes or toying around ever led to anybody getting killed from both sides I mean?

Not even a single bullet is fired since 1962.

I guess it makes sense but Pakistan and India with many skirmishes and numerous raids led to both sides soldiers getting killed.

Still no full blown war but the conflict continues.

They are yet capture anything they claimed as theirs. But Pakistan just handed it to them out of fear as you said.
Not only pakistan, russia , mongolia kazakhistan , north korea and even krgystan handed them land because its legitimately chinese territory.

You think British india was legitimate?? Chinese have maps from qing dynasty british india occupied chinese land illegally also afghan land and burma.

Chinese will take these places by force.

Russia pakistan north korea and kazakhistan were wise nations made friends in exchange of small pieced of land.

Tajikistan india japan taiwan and hong kong along with Philippines will see chinese force when they free their land.

Ladakh himachal and arunachal are chinese territories.

No bullets true but plenty of flying kicks and broken teeth on indian side

No matter the claims or beliefs, they haven't conquered our lands yet. They may never. Why volunteer?

Ask russia and pakistan. They volunteered for friendships.

Friendship and peace is better than endangering ur whole nation for a piece of land.

Making Friends is better than making enemies
Also its their right. British were colonizers took hong Kong any many areas from them even jn arunachal, himachal ladakh kashmir pamir tibet.

British were wrong pakistan knows that so its better to give legitimate people their full right and make friends with the powerful. Rather than makimg powerful enemies.

After 1962, there has been no war nor armed conflict between India & China. The standoffs we have are similar to what China has regarding it's South China sea conflicts. Some pushing around, show of strength and that's about it. Infact, regular Chinese have no sense of rivalry towards Indians and vice-versa

OTH, India & Pak have deep hatred for each other which has been fueled and exploited over the years bu their respective politicians as well. Except for some sane people on both sides, that rivalry and hatred will stay for the next couple of decades atleast
