Say hello to Goojje, a Chinese search engine that looks remarkably like one we’ve seen before. It launched on January 14, and yes, it’s filtered for less flavour.

The way the name works is this: Jie Jie (Goojje) is mandarin for sister, while “ge ge” (Google) means big brother (er, shouldn’t that be the other way round?) The Web Monster (ie, the real one) is being exhorted to stay by its sino-doppelganger, with a message on Goojje that reads, “Sister was very happy when brother gave up the thought of leaving and stayed for sister.”

The figure behind Goojje is said to be a female student from Guangdong, who’s been calling for help developing the search engine – translated, I guess that means it’s open source. [Shanghaiist and BBC News]

that site sucks...
I don't think Chinese are going to use that anyways.
there are a few other Chinese alternatives search engines(eg: Baidu.com)...
Google is not that important within China really.... since due to language and population...
Foreign internet related companies in China has minimal influence.

common web alternatives....
google.com > baidu.com, gougou.com,sogou.com etc etc
youtube.com > tudou.com, 6.cn, youku.com, ku6.com, v.sina.com.cn etc etc
facebook.com > renren.com (looks very much alike ==.==")

good move, every thing should be indigenous.

One recommendation from my side make every thing multi-language so it can complete better.

I am expecting more social engineering sites soon.

. . .
all these sites are controlled by and for chiness government.

evidence and sources please.
since China internet has enough web resources... Google means nothing to most Chinese in China... as i previous posted, due to language and population, most chinese prefer using chinese search engines (by China's private companies)

Losing Google in China... isn't a big deal~~~
Google have a lot of user in a lot of countries... but simply not China .and will not be if they don't follow the laws in China.

How US citizen thinks doesn't matter, means its foreign investment, it has to bound by the laws in china/ any location where is investment locates.

you may have heard, how china blocked websites in xinjiang during riots and they have also blocked access to some info about Tibet.

there are many news about it and even if i found sources , you will say, these are bias, so i don't bother to post sources.

This is about google.
by law, the authorities has the right to block or remove materials that has bad influences. Thats our law.
How you US citizens thinks isn't our concern, its our internal affairs.
Don't want to bound by the law = illegal
Then we are not welcoming companies that goes against our law investing in our country

in my first post, i said "all these sites are controlled by and for chiness government. "

you shouldn't have asked me sources and evidences then.

by the way, even for Google, they cannot shows everything that takes place in china, because chiness government, and that is called "no freedom".

No freedom, not sure about that... at least i don't feel it even when i was living in China.
still, what does has to do with the the US citizens on the freedom of Chinese people. We are not your kids... the US/ its citizens should not concerning/interfering with my internal affairs.

although it might sound rude... but truly it really is none of your(your gov and people's) business

you are right, that US citizens has nothing to do with freedom of chiness people, however

A school, where i go, there are some Taiwanese students, who told me that we don't want to be part of china.

Also do you think Tibetans are chiness, and when Tibetans protest in front of Washington, should US just ignore them???:azn:

i don't know about your view, but in my view, we can't ignore them.

I am not sure when u meet these Taiwanese and their age...
cuz i am half taiwanese... with relatives in Mainland china, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
If your meet with those new generations of Taiwanese in the early 20s... its odd... because you will find that there is no one answer.... i even meet with a Taiwanese guy who want Taiwan to be part of Japan... you see... when i say Taiwanese... i don't mean by teenagers, i am refering to the ones that are the main stream of their economy, 30s or older. they are the ones that counts... not kids... (kids their view changes over time)

As of Tibetans, if you do some research(not your government directed materials/media, and definitely not youtube). Tibetans the ones that are opposing the chinese gov were mostly "slave masters, nobles" descends... since there are no more slavery... they lost everything... its like from king to civilian. And still want to keep that nobility proud.
Go check out some history books on the structure of old Tibet society and where these oversea Tibetans came from. And who was the one triggering these "nobles descends" to induce their "nobility proud" in the first place?
*Research tip, search for articles, books, that exist before this issue went international.
if i were you, i would look into the ones exist before 1970s. before the signs of China rising appears.

From the way you speak, i bet you get your news mostly from US & its allies influenced media. News sometimes don't give the whole story, especially international news, they are there to create political influences that fit their needs.
(in this case, they need to create enemies for China)
That is the same reason US is militarily supporting Taiwan

that girl name is yentan from taiwan , and she is not kid anymore. she is in college now.

kids does matter a lot, since they are the new generations for the country. :)

also looks like you know more about Tibetans people culture than they know themselves.
if only slave masters were affected, than why today Tibetan are protesting today?:azn:
