It is an UNDISPUTED fact that US is more powerful than China in most areas especially in military. China still does not have military power projections. Chinese people are not stupid. They know US is more superior than them so Chinese military strategy against US would be asymmetrical warfare. China cannot destroy the US but China can cripple the US. Its like losing an arm. After you kick this formidable foe's butt you are badly crippled. Next thing you know another bad guy(Russia) comes but this time you cant fight at a 100%.

Anyways if US ever goes to war with China US has to fight China at a 100%. Americans such as I will be drafted to war. It will be a bloodbath on both sides.

Let me just say you know nothing about Indian civilization and its continuity. It has been a continuous civilization for thousands of years. We have traditions and languages and literature and faith going so far back, you won't even know.

Our Vedas are thousands of years old and they are still there and our civilization flows from them. All the major religious texts, much of the scholarly work is still there.

Anyways, the US won't fight China directly any time soon, unless absolutely necessary, such as defending a non-NATO ally.

If any, they'd use proxies against China and vice versa.

Admitting shortcomings in military capabilities doesn't take "balls" and doesn't result disappearing. Maybe that's the case in India or US.

Realistically? More like 30. Then add another 10 for training, proficiency, and the institutionalization of those memories. Not counting actual combat experience. Look at it this way...Take the standard 4-yr enlistment for a US Army infantryman, the first year will include Basic Training and basically how to be an infantryman/rifleman. The last three years will be for refinement of those skills. If he chose not to reenlist, the Army will have at best 2 years of institutional memory from this person. But if he chose to reenlist for another 4 yrs, the Army will have 6 yrs of soldiering skills, experience, and perhaps even combat experience to pass on to the next generation. This is why the 10-yr mark is so important for any military. So for the PLA, the best way to defeat the US Army is through sheer overwhelming manpower, not through technology and anything else. For the highly technology dependent air and naval forces...fugetaboutit...The PLAN will sunk and the PLAAF will be grounded.

Many people keep on comparing China today with US of 1991.

I doubt China can pull off a GW-1 today against any neighboring country, let alone one thousands of miles away and with a million strong army that had just spent $50 billion on defense in the last decade, totally crushing it with a loss of a very small number of soldiers (148 KIA), many of which were a result of friendly fire.

USA had perfected AWACS and JSTARS and GPS guided bombs and network centric operations by this time. It was a turkey shoot.

Not only China does not have many of these technologies even now, it may not be able to combine them as effectively.
