Yeah, but the aircraft is Y-8 there. Pakistan is funding the development in AEWs.

The Y-8 AWACs? Well, it came to Chakala last year, but not during the IDEAS.

The "balance beam" is reportedly quite sophisticated, probably more study is needed.

All these are reportedly equivalent to US E-3.

Chinese sacrificed greatly for studying those machines. See earlier report of an accident in June 2006:

That accident was widely viewed as a big setback to Chinese efforts on AWACS.

Pakistani military has shown great interest in these systems. Is there any new movement on Pakistani side?

No updates that i have followed. There is some development going on down there for sure!
