When people get married, they receive blessings from families and friends. But if there is a large age or cultural gap between the two, then they may also receive a lot of questions as well.

That’s exactly what 43-year-old Zou Qianshun from northwest China and his 27-year-old wife Sandra from Cameroon faced when they got married in 2017.

Back in 2015, Zou, who had been working on fishing boats for over a decade, arrived at the Cameroon port city of Duoala. He met Sandra in the hair salon where she worked, and fell in love with her soon after.

They got married in Cameroon in March 2017, then went back to China.

As soon as they returned to Zou’s hometown, they attracted a lot of attention from curious villagers, so Zou got the idea to livestream parts of their daily lives.

The next challenge was whether Sandra can cope with her new life so far away from her hometown, including the cold weather in northwestern China.

But after a year, the couple seemed to get along with each other quite well. Sandra can now even cook several traditional Chinese dishes, and her mother-in-law has praised her as “smart, pretty, filial and capable.”

They started to share some details of their lives on Kuaishou, a popular live-video streaming platform among Chinese netizens, and soon attracted more than 25,000 followers in a month.

But Zou said they won’t do this for a very long time and plan to go back to working on ships, since he thinks their followers will eventually lose interest.
