2020's was not a war, not even a battle; it was a small border skirmish, most probably because of some misunderstanding. However, India learnt a very good lesson from 1962 War. That is why, there has been, by and large, a peace between China and India, after that. That was one of the key objectives of that War, as expressed by Mao Zedong in a meeting held before that War.

Xi did do 1 big thing that may have saved China: he has crushed corruption. Hu tried and failed. Jiang, haha. I understand 2 terms is not enough to totally crush corruption. 3rd term is needed. Corruption is a nation destroying disease, ask any Indian or Pakistani. For this alone, he deserves 3 terms.

But the PBSC choices make me concerned. I would think that you'd crush the corrupts and then make sure that a successor is lined up to reap the rewards and ensure political stability and continuity. After all if you don't, then everything you work for might be for nothing if an unknown successor gets into office. Better to control your legacy.

Maybe Xi wants another term after next 5 years, thats a guess from the lineup where no apparent succesor is arranged this time ?

China needs Xi without shackles to deal with the geopolitical challenges. You do not want to change leader right now when a Taiwan crisis can erupt at any moment. Xi already has established relationship with many countries especially Russia.

Removed term limits doesn’t necessarily mean president for life. It just means that him and future presidents can be continually elected as long as they are capable of ruling and the party supports it. Merkel was chancellor for 16 years wasn’t she. Isn’t it better if you find a capable leader to keep them in charge than to replace them with someone worse?
