China’s ‘supergun’ nears readiness

.
The test is successful. It is thought the test is carry on out in Yellow Sea. Post by cirr in another thread.

And the most difficult technology hurdle Chinese face for railgun is not handling the heat but stabilize and consistent magnetic field control.

The key seems to be the repeating power supply system. It is the key towards a readiness railgun deploy.
why is it difficult to provide a constant or repeating power to the gun?

all you need is a power generator, either conventional or nuclear.

the electricy pumps condensators as energy source that in turn energizes a electromagnetic field for seconds. enough to fire a metal projectile out of the barrel. plus vs minus as learned by every physics student.

the higher the electromagnetic field, the faster flies the projectile.

the heat created by high voltage electromagnetic field is the main problem, because it brings the gun barrel along with other components to melt.

but unlike a missile that is powered by fuel, the range of eletric gun is limited, because there is a law of physics: gravitation. range of several hundred miles is pure fantasy.
