IMHO like you point out, it is merely a publicity stunt to bring fame to this relatively unknown city. The competition between cities in China for tourists must be fierce.

Well, I had dine on the real USS Nimitz, that did not impress me at all, it's crampy, it's noisy (Try eating when you have a jet blasting off every 5 minutes...).....That's the reason why this concrete Nimitz is doomed....
