China's one and only MiG-29

The Fulrum has always been my favorite fighter. One of my close friends is a MiG-29 pilot in the VVS.

Good to see that this plane is still a 'virgin', and has not faced the terrible fate faced by Flankers sent to China.

Early MIG-29 has many old analoque avionics, I doubt there is much China could learn from studying them, after all the first batch of SU-27 imported by China probably was much more advance.

It is interesting though, that China has got several MIG-29 in their hands for "Blue force" combat training use. They probably got them from Iran (ex-Iraqi planes) or from the ex-Warsaw countries.

This is an incorrect assertion, it does not mater if a cockpit is analog or glass, the aircraft will still have the same systems. The Mig-29 had systems such as Data-link, radar, HMC, IRST, engines, targeting pod..ect all of these were the latest systems at the time, and systems such as HMC were unique to the Mig-29. The only problem is that this was likely an export version which often was a downgrade.

Most likely the PLAAF studied both Mig-29 and Su-33 and found the later a more suitable choice.

Mig-29 studies is still helpful because India operates them.

Studying and reverse engineering are different things. Just because one studied the concepts doesn't mean one copied it.

For example, if you study physics from a textbook, and write an exam on it, then are you copying the textbook? No.

The roundel actually belonged to Belgium airforce. The fake artist probably thought it belonged to Indian airforce.
