Their weapon deals and various programs are worth a lot of money. That relationship could last till 2040 according to estimates. They recently bought 45 MiG-29Ks and additional Brahmos missiles if I am not mistaken.

From my country being a part of SAARC, I can say that India and Russia share a good relationship. In fact, they are Cold War allies.

It's understandable that India is increasingly gearing toward Western equipment, and pay heed to US interests against China, and it is a fact that they have done a pretty good job on balancing their relations with both the US and Russia.

But then, one can't make two opposing heads happy in the long term. That balancing factor would become more and more difficult over time. But there's a lot of time for that.

Also, the US hates SCO for some reason.

My understanding is , China and India are growing at a rapid pace, both countries have been contemporaries in development but not at the cost of each other, other than a pesky border dispute, there is no major rivalry between two countries. Our civilizations have co-existed sisde by side for centuries and have influenced each other culturally. Current geo-political scenario causes both sides to have apprehensions for security and trust defecit. Hopefully cultural exchanges, political dialogue and trade relations will transform the relations of both the nations into a cordial trustworthy allaince in the future, shaping unity between india- pak- china and other south Asian economies.
