BYD passenger sales soar in January​

BYD sold 95,180 passenger vehicles in January 2022, up 126.1% year on year (YoY), with NEV sales up 367.6% to 92,926 units.

The automaker sold sold 46,386 pure electric vehicles in January, up 220.7%. DM models sold 46,540 units, up 760.6%, thanks, BYD said, “to its advanced DM-i super hybrid technology”.

The flagship Han model, a mid to large sedan, sold 12,780 units in January. The Tang SUV achieved volume of 9,060 units.

The EA1, the first production model on the e-platform 3.0, has seen rising sales since its launch. It again set a monthly sales record, 10,602 units.

XPeng EV Sales More Than Doubled In January 2022 To Almost 13,000​

The company is now upgrading its plant to increase the production rate.​

XPeng reports strong EV sales right from the start of 2022, with the fifth consecutive monthly result above 10,000.


The Chinese company announced 12,922 all-electric car deliveries in January (up 115% year-over-year).

The overwhelming majority of XPeng sales are in China.

XPeng's lineup consists of basically three models, which all set strong, but not record results. The XPeng P7 specifically expands pretty quickly, while the all-new XPeng P5 is ramping up.

Xpeng sales:

• Xpeng P7: 6,707 (up 81% year-over-year)
• XPeng P5: 4,029 (new)
• Xpeng G3/G3i: 2,186 (down 5% year-over-year)
• Total: 12,922 (up 115% year-over-year)

Xpeng sales in China – January 2022​

For reference, in 2021, sales exceeded 98,000:

• Xpeng P7: 60,569 (up 302% year-over-year)
• Xpeng G3/G3i: 29,721 (up 148% year-over-year)
• Xpeng P5: 7,865 (new)
• Total: 98,155 (up 263% year-over-year)

Cumulatively, XPeng has sold more than 150,000 electric cars.

China's BYD sold 91,078 autos in February and 186,500 in the first two months of 2021, up 335% and 195%, respectively, from a year earlier. Sales of NEVs skyrocketed 753% to 88,283 last month from the same period last year.

Audi-FAW NEV building new EV plant in China; 150k cars annually​

The Audi-FAW NEV Company Ltd., a company jointly founded by Audi and its partner FAW, is is set to begin construction on a new plant in China for fully electric Audi models using the Premium Platform Electric (PPE).

On an area of approximately 150 hectares, a highly modern plant for fully electric Audi models will be constructed by the end of 2024. A completely new IT architecture will be put into place to network all site processes. The cross-site environmental program Mission:Zero sets the parameters for sustainability, ensuring production at the Changchun site will be CO2 neutral and fully connected.

Production areas at the plant will include a press shop, body construction, paint shop, and final assembly line in addition to an in-house battery assembly. The first buildings will be erected in Changchun when the frost period ends.

As the newest Audi production site, the plant will set new standards in digitalization, efficiency, and sustainability. By setting up the new Audi-FAW NEV Company, we will bring a fresh charge to e-mobility in China.

The new plant in Changchun will be the first production site in China where only all-electric Audi models roll of the line. With its annual capacity of more than 150,000 cars, the factory will play a central role in the continued electrification of Audi’s product portfolio for the Chinese market.

Three models are initially slated for production at the site on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) codeveloped with Porsche. The first cars to roll off the line will be an electric SUV and an e-limousine.

The Audi-FAW NEV Company is the first cooperation company with a majority interest held by Audi in China. CEO Helmut Stettner will also assume management of the new plant.
