China's missing India strategy could fall prey to US-Japan plot

This was also the American "India strategy" for many decades. They are finding out that it is not such an attractive proposition.

americans didn't want an independent pakistan; they don't live in the neighborhood and didn't care the long term prospect of pakistani sovereignty and security (and today act wilfully to undermine it). china has permanent and - as long as india continues to act as a bully and wanted to swallow up the entire subcontinent - also immutable interests in south asia, and as such our support to pakistan isn't a matter of choice or whim to us.

Supporting a nation that hosts non-state actors will have its own implications, and India is not the only regional nation with concerns on this issue.

Undoubtedly your various neighbours including Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines, Afghanistan will be building up their strong and independent capabilities in the years to come. Indo-Russian relations will also continue to remain stable.

Indian political independence is often misunderstood as a lack of effective strategic policies but its the other way around .

And you really think that is a good idea?

Sending billions of dollars overseas, into the economies of rich nations? Instead of spending those billions on your own economy, and putting that money into your own indigenous industries?

Now the results are clear. Not only is China's economy stronger, but we are even able to independently produce our own 5-th generation fighters, as well as creating new weapons platforms like our ASBM Carrier killer missile.

India on the other hand, has to import even ammunition from overseas.
May be you need to learn more about Indian indigenous programs....we started very late, had many hurdles....but we are trying to catch up....in the mean time we can't leave our borders unprotected just for the pride that we won't buy from other countries....even China started with buying from others.....We built our own Nuclear Submarine, ICBM, building Aircraft Carrier (just like you), Ballistic Missile Defense, Tanks (124 inducted, 124 to be inducted)..and many more......IT JUST TAKE TIME...........

And you dont think China is acting like a bully? Are you blind or just clue less?

Dont forget we alos had some very narrow minded rules that forbade reverse engineering

China surely does not have a good foreign policy against India and other small nations.

Yet according to the BBC Country Rating Polls, China is viewed more positively worldwide than both the EU and the USA.

And needless to say, all three are ranked much higher than India.

What power in the history of the world has not been seen as a bully by someone or the other?

India is declining towards USA and that is bad news for China...If China wants to control India by using Pakistan...India can use USA to control China....

If India allows USA to build base in Kashmir and Arunanchal Pradesh.....China would miss the plot forever

LOL, please do that. Seriously, PLEASE do that. :D

You want to let the USA build military bases on your soil? You're giving up your own sovereignty, and your own "independent policy"... and we don't even have to anything.

Dragon I agree, i was pointing it out coz one poster made it seem like India was only capable of such perceptions

Good to keep all options on the table....it may prove to be wise in the future....this talk about sovernigty and independent policy is just cheap talk to keep us from moving forward on various fronts. A move like that radically change the game scenario

Excellent, so all we have to do is increase the pressure on India... and India will voluntarily give up their own sovereignty, and their "independent foreign policy". Forever giving up their chance to be a pole in a multi-polar world.

I can't imagine a better scenario for us. :D

Unfortunately, your leaders aren't willing to sell out your sovereignty so easily. Not because they have principles, but because they fear losing votes.

Though even a small chance of that happening, is already worth it to increase the pressure on India.

If you think the present timid Indian govt is a "bully" I can't imagine what you will think if somebody sensible like Modi takes charge post 2014.
