China’s jute tech offer to Bangladesh alarms India

This is a good technology

Viscose from Jute ; India can also use it

India is the largest producer of jute

We are talking about Bangladesh import subtituting indian export with localy sourced viscose. Once we begin replacing imported indian cotton (30%-40% by value of indian exports to Bangladesh) too with local Jute/bamboo based material this will mean a major lose to indian exporters (who currently have a captured market).

Even if india produces jute based viscose, it won't be able to find a market in Bangladesh.

I think India consumes most of their own jute by themselves - like other Indian products. Mostly for govt. mandated packaging use.

Per Wiki, in terms of world export of jute fiber, Bangladesh' share is more than 70%, which makes Bangladesh the largest exporter of jute fiber in the world.

Bangladesh can export Jute Rayon Viscose fiber products as ecologically sensitive product as a cotton-substitute as T-shirts etc. (many times lesser use of chemicals and bleach). This could be a new weapon in our garments exports arsenal and allow for huge value addition compared to simply exporting fiber.

There is a huge demand worldwide for this sort of eco-fabrics. We just have to market these properly.

Well said my man.

If this to be a real success BD private sector must come forward. Not govt sector.

If incentives are there we will.

There is a certain quarter of overzealous paranoid Indian population that thinks surrounding countries having a better (or even equal) standard of living or strength in anything (industrial or military) is unacceptable. This mentality is more applicable for non-Majority-Hindu countries. Read the writings of 'Chanakya' - you'll get it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthashastra#On_spying.2C_propaganda_and_information

This may be vaguely connected with one-time Brahminical superiority complex and 'untouchable', 'Achhyut' or 'Varna' mentality reserved for lower class Hindus, and worse yet, non-Hindus.

Of course -that being said, there are plenty of people in India who are secular, progressive and possess modern viewpoints. But they are not in power.

India has started being represented by their own bizarre version of 'Trump' and 'Trump-followers' even before Trump ever became a reality. Lower class Hindus are a bigger follower of this principle, being RSS and Sangh Parivar members. This is a paradox.

Its just opposite and nothing to do Bhrminical supremacy. Infact most jealous people are from sudra class, who themselves were marginalized by their own upper casre. Then came the muslim part who ruled them another 800 years. So they developed a sense of inferiority complex and always had a tendency to prove themselves better than their muslim neighbor.

India says it is isolating Pakistan but, i see quiet opposite.

First BD got Subs from China and now they are getting Jute Technology....India! big war is coming towards you, Jute Bombs coming

.
If it is in the interest of Bangladesh ,we Indian don't have any problem with any thing you are getting from anywhere. If few thousand Cr lost by Indian exporters, I don't think it will have any impact on India.

.
China is always willing to share technology with friends.
Last time, CRRC has started up a factory in Malaysia manufacturing trains and metro for regional markets, using local components and training local engineers.
