Surprised that CCTV did not air it live. They should have had crew over there from early morning. I guess they are too busy to prepare for the next Spring Festival Gala . Pressure is too much on them and I heard they started preparations from April.

If CCTV misses CZ-5 launch live, then I will stop watching them

And CCTV generally gives less than one minute for inauguration of most high-speed railways!
If a normal railway....perhaps 10 seconds

Having the ability to land is a bonus...not an absolute requirement. People are still paying for the whole rocket right now. So if it burns up on re-entry like a regular rocket or lands it doesn't make a difference in cost.

no one has taken advantage of a fully expendable Falcon 9 have they?? I don't even think SpaceX offers the option.

as I said Falcon 9 FT fully expendable is more powerful, but Falcon 9 has to reserve fuel to land the first stage which means it can't put as much payload into orbit as the CZ-5 so technically it's more powerful on that point

are you sure? from ses.com, the ses-9 is only 5.3t

the older long march 3b/e has launched payload more than that multiple times

The primary payload on board the inaugural launch of the Long March-7 is a prototype capsule for the future next generation crew vehicle (NGCV).

Other payloads involved are a cubesat, a block of ballast and two other small satellites: ‘ADRV’ and ‘BPV’.

Much much cheaper just base off using kerosene. About at least 30% cheaper.

Depends upon the price...but keep in mind even with 4 strap on boosters the Long March 7 is still less powerful than even Elon Musk's single core Falcon 9.

Bare in mind, Falcon9 have 9 engines versus 1 for each CZ7 booster and 2 for the first stage.

I dunno know about that. the fuel cost is very low portion of the overall cost of a rocket.


how much is hydrazine? I can't find a source.
