India is a cake walk for China. Indian defense Budget is too small, Indian Military if too weak and Indian technological base is non-existent.


China does things under the radar. I am sure the actual Chinese defense budget would be north of $400 Billion.

The statistical gap may eventually make a difference, but it certainly won't reach $400 billion. The main impact is that there is some overlap between military and commercial research and development and that infrastructure also provides an increase in military capabilities, which cannot be easily calculated.

China's investment in semiconductors, for example, will also greatly enhance the capabilities of Chinese electronics for military use.

PPP is maybe useful for personnel pay but not useful for measuring weapons/equipment cost. Cost of high end defense gear is probably not too different between that of the US and China.

The labor cost in China is fraction of the labor cost in the US.

And unfortunately, US cannot outsource their defense production to China like other industries.

Labor cost is only one part of the equation. Once you have economy of scale you can ramp up production very quickly and at a fraction of the cost. Compare how many F-35s the US is able to crank out with Chinese J-20/J-16/J-10C in the same period of time, for instance. It is a different story in shipbuilding though.

Military efficiency is another issue entirely.

Judging from the current situation, if calculated by the quantity of equipment, China's military expenditure is at least the same as that of the United States.

After all, the price of a coffee cup on a Chinese aircraft carrier is not thousands of dollars. Investigators from the Chinese Ministry of National Defense did not die in Afghanistan.

The Chinese Navy only has a budget of tens of billions of dollars each year, and a warship docked in a port is equivalent to the entire British Navy. The U.S. Navy cannot even complete the replacement of old warships. I also don’t understand where the 700 billion dollars in the United States has been spent?

1.3% of GDP is pretty low, around 2% of GDP and 8% of government budget is more adequate. Mil-Civ industrial merge should continue, tbh many capable private manufacturing power should be ultilized in offering smart ammunitions, drones and other military consumables for efficiency.
