China’s construction giant inks MoU to build Gwadar’s first luxury golf community

The key word here is community, meaning it will include many supporting facilities e.g. hotels, shopping malls, hospitals etc. A golf course doesn’t need to cost $200+ million to build. It will be a great place to visit for domestic and international holiday makers. :yahoo:
The problem is Pakistani leadership lacks ability to come up with innovative and ambitious ideas that hrake the mould Pakistan is stuck with - a country known for being terror central and chaotic Islamic fundos. Add to this a population which still has not recovered from the colonial complex which exhibits itself as being extremely insecure about everything and seeing a threat at every turn.

I would hand over 5 mile strip of pristine coat adjacent to Gawadar (say about 10 miles west of the city) on a 50 year lease to China with condition that it is developed as holiday resort. The climate in this part of Pakistan is more Mediteranean then South Asian. Stunning beaches with pure blue Arabian Sea would make for a stunning resort. Apartments and upmarket holiday houses would be snatched by many rich ex-pat Pakistanis as well as rich Pakistanis. Most of this money is going to real estate in Dubai at the moment. With Chinese running the resort, Chinese providing security it would attract international market. It would be win win for all. It would give Chinese tourists a place to chill and relax, place for ex-pats to invest, international tourists to visit and any vistor to Pakistan would have a option to add this resort on their list. It would give the country a positive image etc etc.

But alas ....

I 100% agree with this.

drinking should be allowed in this 5 mile area to attract foreign tourists. women in bikinis should also be allowed

You have water scarcity and these stupid Golf courses. Who ever thought of it needs to be put behind bars.

Desalination plant will need to be expanded by 150% but I am sure that can be done

I am sure there are cheaper alternatives.

There is a grass used on golf courses in warmer climates that is tolerant to salty or brackish water. Once established, cultivars of seashore paspalum can withstand water containing high levels of salt. While it is not recommended to irrigate with seawater, a few golf courses are forced to use brackish water for the golf course. This allows the construction and management of courses in places where fresh water may not be available either physically or politically. Courses in the Bahamas, Caribbean and Hawaii are natural locations for this grass. In the contiguous U.S., seashore paspalum can be found primarily in coastal regions of California, Texas and Florida and along the Gulf of Mexico. In Florida, some courses with paspalum use deep wells to pump brackish water from the Lower Hawthorne Formation. Special attention to manage salt accumulation in the soil is required, as well as keeping brackish water away from salt sensitive plants on the course. The modern cultivars of seashore paspalum, released from 1999 to 2014, include ‘SeaIsle 1’, ‘SeaIsle 2000’, ‘SeaDwarf’, ‘Salam’, ‘SeaIsle Supreme’, ‘Platinum TE’ and ‘Sea Star.’

That will still cause issues - in such regions, aquifers take hundreds of years to replinish.

Priority should be

a) Residential community for people in region
b) Marina for Ships for local residents
c) Water Desalination capacity expansion
d) Sewage cleanup System

Easy to see this could be a great source for Tourism and visitors

The low quality stuff done at Karachi beach ruined the Image of beach in Karachi

More bad planning from Karachi
Not even sure if these are Illegal or illegal construction buildings

If planned properly Both karachi/gawadar can generate 5-10 Billion USD from Tourism
