What's new

China's booming Silicon Valley-like community

Really, check the New York subway. Some part of New York city is very dirty, many homeless people and they really really stink. but anyway, China is getting better year on year, but I never expect China become that spotless like Singapore or Japan, China is big country with even bigger dreams.
Japan rain fall is much higher than average of China cities. They are literally wash the street.

Chinese cities is on the other hand will be cleaner and cleaner, but I don't see necessity to reach Japanese level.

The Japanese order is totally another thing which @tower9 mentioned. That's the key point, we don't want Chinese behaves as orderly as Japanese, that will kill me.

China doesn't have to be as orderly as Japan. But it should try to be as clean.

I think being a clean person, not littering and taking pride in your home's appearance, your neighborhood's appearance and your own appearance are basic standards for any decent person. I don't see how this is not achievable for China as long as the population is educated. I don't think it will have any effect on China's dynamism. Look at how clean Singapore is, it hasn't dented their dynamism.

Japan in general has the highest level of civic-mindedness in the world, by far. Singapore isn't anywhere near them. We still have a lot to learn from them.

Yes, they pick up litter on foreign street which I feel absurd. On the other hand, pouring tons of nuclear waste into the pacific ocean, it's irresponsible completely and shameful.

Their home looks clean, on the other hand, they would not abandon those highly risky nuclear power station just want to save some money.

They are polite, on the other hand, when the disaster happened, no one would risk their lives to save the mass, let the nuclear power plant burn.

They can use the sea water to cool down the power plant, they refuse to do so, the sea water will damage the power plant and cost a lot of money. Now the power plant melted, and it may cost 200 billion USD to clean up the mess.

Have you ever heard of "有小礼而无大义"? "A nation following small etiquette but neglecting grand righteousness."

I am not exaggerating, there are many cases to back my claim.

The Confucian virtues are 仁(benevolence)义(righteousness)礼(etiquette)智(wisdom)信(believe).

The Japanese learnt Confucianism and Chinese Buddhism, they ignore the core value of Confucianism is not 礼智信, but 仁义。

Japanese civism is outstanding... In Public...
I assure you... that the moment you step in their Private Houses... you wouldn't think it's from a Japanese...
They are more than "Average", doesn't mean it's dirty, but the contrast with what is shown on the outside is Day and Night.

The islands not only locked their footprint, but their minds too. A great nation needs great mind.
