China will give 4,000 sophisticated buses to reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka

Scrap cars should be scrapped... Don't dump into other countries. Remember India is the world's biggest dump for E-waste. Exactly the reason why india does not allow Apple to sell refurbished phones.

Even china has varying degrees of quality based on cost. Low cost will give you shit...

We sell to BD for it to be scrapped soon (as I assume Japan and others do as well). If they choose to drive it around for 10 more years, thats their free market choice. Its money for India (and others) to make on something we otherwise get close to 0 for locally (used car scrap)....or even have to pay to scrap.

Onus is on BD to put in regulations on their side and improve their market demand for better and newer cars.

Hi There!
It is really not wise to write something without even attaching a shred of proof. You need to understand that Indian automotive industry is probably 5th in the world. There are various levels of quality that one can get from india especially in tier-2 and 3 companies manufacturing spare parts. It is outrageous to say that all of automobiles manufactured in india is rubbish.
You took the example of steel--again india happens to be 2nd largest producer of steel in 2016 and there are a wide spectrum of producers with varying qualities,hence you get what you pay for. If your country imports low cost steel from india then dont expect it to beat the best in the world.
And lastly kindly do pay a visit to pune and chennai-you'd get a feel of the R&D going on india in the field of automotive engineering.


Let me tell you something straight,In India,the lower and middle segment is dominated by Indian buses only. No one in india uses "chinese buses". Secondly we do not call these as "indian metro buses"--metro is a word reserved for something else in india. These buses is what I call AC buses thats all. And in most cities in india,Volvo,TATA and Ashok leyland dominate this segment. Btw,tell me honestly if you have ever travelled by a TATA AC bus(what you call as "metro buses" in your country).I expect an "honest" answer.
Bangalore is perhaps the only city to have bought the chinese e-buses-- this doesnt mean that India hasnt produced any e-buses. It merely meant they(BMTC--Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corp) felt that chinese one is cheaper than Indian. In fact Ashok Leyland has developed their own e-bus using Aerospace Grade cells designed and developed by ISRO for their space missions.
and lastly it will be great if we do justice to the topic of this thread. In case you make any statement-- do NOT forget to attach very credible and neutral proofs for the same.

I have my information and remain convinced that although there are a lot of micro-cars being manufactured and exported from India (even a smaller portion of a Billion plus people will need to ride something), it is not ready for claiming one of the top spots in the automotive manufacturing world for quality, (yes even products from top tier Indian companies and foreign auto majors). I have established this fact over and over again for Indian PDF posters' benefit.

Since this topic is OT here and I'd rather discuss somewhere else, please open a separate thread if you want to discuss further.

You haven't. You get countered, lose and end the conversation running away crying.

Baleno being exclusively produced in India and exported to developed markets (to their standards) must REALLY stick in your craw for example.

Keep labeling it as "micro car" (when its easily a sedan/hatchback). You are from a country that literally buys just 20,000 cars a year (less than several far less populated fellow LDC sub-saharan african countries)...mostly scrap-ready clunkers. No one takes your labels and definitions seriously....given your lot can't afford new micro cars in the first place.

BYD electric buses are quite costly especially K9 series, they do exports to UK, United States, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Canada, Brazil, South Africa and many others, but wasn't aware of exports to India as well, good news!

Naturally BYD sells e-buses in China market, but domestic competition is very fierce (from Yutong, Young Man, Zhongtong, etc). However BYD has one unique advantage: itself is also a battery tech company, world class in power grid storage (ranks 3rd, after LG Chem and Samsung SDI, even ahead of Panasonic! see Navigant link).

Their battery tech is also very competitive in transportation, world top three are LG Chem, Panasonic and Samsung SDI, then BYD and AESC (jointly invested by Nissan and NEC) and fast-rising SK Innovation are in second camp. Like Samsung SDI is backing BMW, Panasonic is backing Tesla, BYD's advanced battery technology also backs Volvo (a Geely subsidiary company)

Give or sale? We heard same news that china gave two naval boats to pakistan to petrol CPEC. Subsequently, the news came that it was a sale and not a gift.

I am afraid I do not have time and energy to open a thread and then keep replying to prove a point. If my memory serves me well,it was you who 'claimed' all of indian automobile to be of inferior quality--hence the burden of proof lies on party making the claim. Now either you prove your remarks using very credible and neutral sources or stop commenting things based on second hand stories and biased media reports. A credible report is the one published by an expert in automotive industry.

A handful of Chinese buses were bought on trial, but the vast majority of Bombay's buses are of the Ashok Leyland and Tata variety, the latest of the lot, being the Tata Starbus Hybrid.
