BEIJING, March 11 -- China welcomes Japan's participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, Commerce Minister Zhong Shan said here Sunday.

"The Belt and Road Initiative is open, inclusive and transparent," Zhong said at a press conference on the sidelines of the annual legislative session.

Noting that Japan has been paying close attention to issues related to Belt and Road Initiative, Zhong said China is willing to cooperate with Japan within the Belt and Road framework.

. . . .
It will never be an opportunity for India due to CPEC.

India's opposition to China's OBOR is genuine but it has little to do with CPEC. The real reason is that India hates to see an economically vibrant Pakistan. In addition all India's neighbors except Bhutan support the Chinese initiative, which will inevitably reduce India's influence in the region.

.
I think Japan should join OBOR.
Japan has already joined :agree:

TOKYO -- Japanese trading house Itochu is launching a freight transport service linking Japan and Europe via China. The move comes after the company concluded that beefed-up logistics networks under China's Belt and Road Initiative would increase cargo movement.

The service, which will use existing local railway logistics between China and Europe, will begin by the end of March. Itochu Logistics, a subsidiary of Itochu, has been conducting trials of the Japan-Europe freight service since January.

Itochu has been working with logistics providers Chinese Railway & Itop Logistics in China and Gefco in Europe.

The first leg of the service will involve shipping cargo by sea from Japan to Dalian and Shanghai. After that, the cargo will be trucked by Itochu Logistics' to train stations inside China, including one in the city of Manzhouli.

There are two rail routes: a northern route traversing Russia, Belarus and Poland; and a southern route to Hamburg, Germany and other areas via Kazakhstan.

Shipping in both directions will take about 25 days, compared to around seven days by air, but be up to 50% cheaper.

Itochu expects to transport automotive parts, electronics and apparel from Japan to Europe, and receive automobiles, baby formula, processed foods and other products from the continent.

The company will be responsible for all logistics.

Under Chinese President Xi Jinping's Belt and Road Initiative, aimed at expanding land and maritime links in Asia, Europe and Africa, the number of freight train services between China and Europe is growing, totaling about 3,600 in 2017. The number is expected to jump to around 5,000 in 2020.

In response, Japanese companies are initiating a Japan-Europe cargo service via land and sea transport.

To counter OBOR, India and Japan propose Asia-Africa sea corridor
India And Japan Join Forces To Counter China And Build Their Own New Silk Road

They have not. But it would mean you have to read his article, comprehend it and then understand the difference between a private company using existing lines versus a government signing up for it.

How relevant India's Asia-Africa sea corridor? Indians had not produce any tangible result beside boasting about this project while Japan itself is joining China to deliver their merchandise to EU via China's OBOR initiative and not to mention CPEC which will be operational soon. I only hope that India is not crying hopelessly over CPEC as excuse for not to take part of OBOR. With or without India, it wont make any different for OBOR.

Indian always miss the oppotunity, for them, so-called diginity is more important, they are not flexible, that's why they can't catch up with China. Now, they spin their hope on collapse of China because Xi maybe become a cruel dictator!

It doesn't matter how relevant the India-japan deal is because it has not taken off, yet. It matters that this propaganda article is fake news. Japan has not joined your OBOR. The CCP funded article is to hoodwink you into thinking some private company using existing lines equated to Japan joining.

Japan is actively working against you in this regard because- NOBODY TRUSTS YOU on OBOR. You are looked as a transactional relationship partner at best and one that is a loan sharking type. You don't have any brand, cultural, way of life, governance or people skills anyone covets or wants to adopt as aspirational. That's why your transactional allies don't yearn to go to live among you, move there or covet you as a brand.

But you got no money
Do it the western style, sow seeds of discord somewhere around the world to make money

Well why India need to provide money?, they're expecting Japan to cover all the construction bill and hire Indian workers, plus to have share 50% 50% with Japan, this I call a smart idea, get something out of nothing . But Japan will not be fooled twice after the plaza accord in 1980s, they rather jump into China's wagon than wait for India to fantasize their sea corridor dream.

We didnt' make this propaganda, go blame Japanese:lol:, but whether Japan join or not, we have nothing to lost, we has not expect them to jump into the wagon but we're welcome them to take part. And I have no doubt that Japan is working behind our back, this is not the first time and will not be the last time but we well know how Japanese work and we're willing to tango with the wolf (与狼共舞).
