I wonder what Indians gain from this.

What China gains from commenting on a naval excersise taking place in the far part of Indian ocean?

The dragon is rattled by just hearing that, A group of dragon slayers have arrived, its time India has more military contact with japan, Vietnam, Australia, USA, and many like minded countries who don't disclose it openly.

China is openly showing its animosity and aggression towards India, so its time India also acts in its interest, Japanese money and Indian manpower makes a great combination, India should make Japan its strategic partner.

None of the above mentioned countries will come to our Aid in times of war. And why should they?
We should learn to fight our own battles. We are not Pakistan to be lapped up by USA and now by China. We stand on our own legs, and that's how shall will be even if we die

Brother I am not telling about war this is geopolitics, one should not always think like an army man, do you think srilanka, Bangladesh, or any other country will help china against India?, we should follow chanakyas policies of saam, daan, dand , bedh, the messagevwe are sending to china is if you are hellbent on weakening india, supporting our enemies, India should side with their opponents, or else it will be like get beaten up by a bully and you can't do any thing, we should back and encourage a bigger bully who can pounce that bully, that is geo politics, you need not directly fight your enemy, war is the final means, if the Japanese and Americans want to give their tech and money if we side (at least indirectly)with them what is wrong in it, by any means India will benefit, don't you agree?

China have interfered in south asia for last 60yrs. Your govt profilerate nuke to Pakistan, sold them rocket technology, sell them all kinds of weapons to weaken India. You even support Pakistan sponsored terrorism by vetoing any resolution against global terrorist who are based in Pakista

India have all right to protect its interests.
China was not Indian's enemy in the beginning. The ego and ignorance of Nehru foolishly made it so. If Indian choose to further solidify the enemity. So be it. Indians have the right to do what is the best for them. Whether it really turns out to be the best is a different issue.

They look more like Pakistan's SEATO and CENTO alliances of the 1950s

I wish Japan plays a positive role instead of being provocative and a threat for regional and global peace.

Japan is doing what is best in its interest... while China is sleeping... sorry to say but reality is this... they are not giving importance to geopolitics.. they are confining themselves only to Business while enemies are surrounding them... they are not giving importance to BD, SL, Maynamar, Bhutan, Maldives etc which they deserve...

I wonder what Indians gain from this.

Freedom of navigation in SCS benefits the entire planet, directly or indirectly.

I think they find such ties unpalatable unless one country is subservient to the other.

Another fake news from Indian making up what the China foreign ministry announced. They never say it that way.
Well said,

It is all propaganda, in fact Indian and Japanese hackers have defaced Chinese foreign ministry website and posted content to make this news look true

Q: During Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to India, both sides signed a number of cooperation agreements, including one on the civilian use of nuclear energy. Japan will also help India build a high-speed railway. India agreed to include Japan as a partner in the Malabar naval exercises over which China once expressed its concerns. The two sides also mentioned in their joint statement the South China Sea issue, stressing the significance of the sea lanes in the South China Sea for regional energy security and commerce and calling on all parties to refrain from taking unilateral actions that could lead to tensions in the region. There is also reference to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. What is China's take on Abe's visit? What is China's comment on relevant agreements?

A: As for Japan-India nuclear energy cooperation, the Chinese side always believes that under the premise of honoring international nuclear non-proliferation obligations, all countries are entitled to make peaceful use of nuclear energy and conduct relevant international cooperation in a way that uphold the authority and effectiveness of the international nuclear non-proliferation regime.

As for the high-speed railway cooperation between Japan and India, it has been common over the years for Asian countries to drive national development through infrastructure construction. China and India are also cooperating in the high-speed railway sector. We stand ready to move forward relevant cooperation together with the Indian side.

As for the South China Sea-related contents in their joint statement, I would like to point out that China respects the navigation and overflight freedom in the South China Sea that all countries are entitled to in accordance with international law. The construction activities that China undertakes on the stationed islands and reefs in the South China Sea fall completely within China's sovereignty. They are justified, reasonable and lawful, targeting no country and impeding in no way the freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea. We hope countries outside the region would respect the efforts of regional countries in maintaining peace and stability of the South China Sea, instead of doing the opposite.

As for Japan's participation in the relevant military exercises, China's position is very clear. Relevant countries should not provoke confrontation and create tension in the region.
