Here's my interpretation of the Virtual Reality 3D-pilot training below. Firstly, the pilot is using VR. The other display (a 2D LCD) in front of the pilot allows the instructor to see what the pilot is seeing. Secondly, in case of VR failure, the 2D LCD display is the backup for training.

"VR Headsets put PLANAF Pilots into 3D (sunmingchi via lt.cjdby.net)

Despite looking like a LAN party, the 3D headsets are actually for adding reality to desktop pilot training.

3D virtual reality sets aren't just part of the Facebook empire; the Chinese have found them a cheap, easy and effective tool to increase pilot teamwork before jumping into the cockpit."

Exhibit salesperson is looking at the LCD screen

I just noticed the exhibit salesperson is looking at the LCD screen, which probably shows what the VR MANPADS operator is seeing.

The salesperson looks like he is adjusting the firing position of the FN-16 MANPADS.

The PLA Army VR unit seems identical to the PLANAF VR system. Both have an LCD back-up screen to let the instructor see what the trainee is looking at.
