You are oversimplifying this. The opium for the masses is the war frenzy that the media circus generates. As long as there is a separation between the actual battle strategy/planning done at the offices of power and the output of our media circus, the latter positively reinforces the former by making sure that the armed forces get the attention they need and a war doesn’t lead to the existing govt being kicked out of the outcome of a war doesn’t go in India’s favour. Sentiments like ‘revenge’ and ‘sacrifice’ are useful to generate war hysteria. As a connoisseur of military history, I can’t appreciate the role motivation has on battle outcomes enough. So it’s not entirely about creating a nation of airheads at play. Do a bit of internet research on the Stalin’s propaganda machine that catalysed the Soviet Union from being knocked out by the nazis to the juggernaut it became towards the end of the warThere is a real world, then there's one Indians live in. I always have though the disinformation against the enemy is a good ploy, but this phenomenon of using disinformation against your own population - that is fast unfolding in India is quite something. They literally construct parallel worlds, which have no basis in reality, out of thin air. The targets of this entire disinformation campaign too is their own population, which for the lack of a real narrative gulps it down. I am not sure what it'll do to their national psyche, eventually.
They are literally raising a nation of airheads.
