Modi made the decision 3 years ago to jump on the anti-China bandwagon at the start of covid. He calculated that India will be the winner benefiting from the US led isolation of China and exit of industrial supply chains from China. That's the root cause of why Sino Indian relations declined dramatically in the last few years. I don't see this changing as it is clear that the Indian ruling class has placed its bets on becoming an anti-China US ally and the US is obviously working hard to cultivate India as such. So there really is nothing China can do about India becoming a hostile power other than to develop itself into an invincible power so that India doesn't try anything funny even if war breaks out over Taiwan.

This nature has ruined economies of Sri Lanka, Pakistan and several African countries. They all thought China would set up factories to boost up their economies when onboarding with BRI.
