China to upgrade radar of Pakistan’s JF-17 fighter aircraft

.
I have an actual Phd. So does my wife...in research no question is a bad question...that was our first lesson...

Hi,

Indeed---you are correct---but when information is available---and the posters don't elect to search for it---and bring the discussion down from the heights of K2 to the plains of Punjab---and drag everyone down---.

It is a pakistani habbit---when a new comer enters a room---without recognizing where the discussion is---he wants to start afresh---without putting the effort to learn---.

So---your comments are in a different context---. If you are true to your statements---then you would never be able to complete your PhD---.

Questions are welcome---but the posters who have been on the forum for years have to show some respect for the decorum---and new comers should also put an effort to learn---.

The issue is with the pakistanis---it is their INBREAD habbit to speak out of turn---to interject without any knowledge of the subject matter---to make claims and have no substantial proof behind their comments---.

IRST may not be needed as aselpod has capability for air to air and can be carried to complement if needed ?? I think, ideally a separate IRST just for air to air is too expensive option, even USN and USAF is going for LM posed IRST on older platforms

Sir if our JF17 block III is going to face Rafael won't you think it should be equipped with if not superior but challenging gadgets. The AESLPOD has limited Air to Air capability, we should have IRST for at least few squadrons meant for A2A engagements with enemy whether it is India or Western front.

I wouldnt worry about ehats said here.
Jf17 was designed by PAF for PAF to fight against the odd and against fighters thats are much more expensive and on papar more capable. I trust our pilots will selects whats required wisely....after all their lives depend on it

Unfrtunately it also depends on what is made available to the PAF. This and the finance for the buy, in my view are more crucial than what the PAF pilots want. IAF is no longer the IAF of the 60s and 70s. It is a much better organized, trained and motivated air force and will not be a walk over for the PAF.

I agree with you regarding whats available to PAF.
Indian airforce was always mot8vated well armed and had numbers on their side. Today indian airforce has the numbers but its morale isnt good. Its attrition rate is high its maintenence is poor and the calibre of its pilots is poor compared to the past as IAF is nkt the career of choice foe indians.

Don't worry Thunder Block III is specifically designed to tackle that very threat. 100 home grown block III's would be sufficient to take on 36 Rafels (practically 27 available at any time at 75% availability). Air wars are not decided on the aesthetics of a platform, or what the "made in " label says.

What's available to PAF in terms of equipment is not in public knowledge for a variety of reasons and there is no shortage of funds for buying essential equipment. They are not just churning out airframes without potent systems, if they were short on funds they would reduce the numbers. Pakistan is not a poor country, our issue is liquidity due to repayment of loans that were not used for productivity enhancement.

Block III will pretty much match rafel capabilities with higher numbers, higher availability and cheaper maintenance advantage.

Met a few. Very professional and very aggressive. Do not be fooled by past events. To win means you have to put more effort than others....

IRST were used mostly by Russian as backup due to low realibilty if their primarily radar now due to high jamming environment IRST is standard as well

Chinese have one for j-10 which is claimed to be Better than Russian ones for Mig29 and su series

It will all depend on how well KLj-7A can handle jamming environment plus reliability
If it’s true aesa than it’s should be jamming resistance and high reliability in 1000s of hours vs mechanical 200-300 hours

Time will tell once block iii is unveiled, aesa and hmd have been already confirmed but not sure about IRSt in block 3

If aselpod a2a modes meets the need than there is no need

That's just Western propaganda.

The Russians used radar and IRST because one of their main goals was the total automation of the majority of their air force. Computers needed a combination of radar and optical sensors to build a proper air picture by themselves. Alas, it didn't happen due to the fall of the Union. The Russians were in fact introducing far more capable PESA radars while the Americans were still playing with inferior MS radars. That's how India got the Bars PESA.

Oh i agree. But they are not invincible. Rememeber how 2017 icc trophy wad theirs before the game....we were no body. We were the whipping boys and then the game started. Have faith.

.
Can someone explain the real advantage of IRST and the A2 A range of Aeslpod to me it may not be more than 20-30KM. Meanwhile modern IRSTs have range of 70 to 90 KM.
