China to sell Geely cars in Pakistan and build manufacturing plants in Pakistan as well

Current market dynamics suggest a need for small hatchback cars powered completely by Electric motors or hybrids. Considering oil prices won't go down any time soon, people are looking for cars that can give 30 KM/1 Liter mileage.

If China sells Geely cars 10% cheaper than Toyota, Honda, and Nissan cars I would buy the Chinese cars instead.

You would be one of the handful who would do that because the market sentiment is based on resale value at which nothing beats the Japanese cars.

However, if the Chinese offer the same or better features/functions, security, mileage, availability of spare parts etc., at 30% less cost than the Japanese then these cars will be attractive. If the Chinese manufacturers further add a buy-back option then their cars would be a lot more attractive and investment safe option.

But whatever the case, the cars need to be MANUFACTURED in Pakistan and not merely assembled!

We need Electric cars and have a road map to phase out gasoline cars.

Dead on dude. I would myself buy an electric car if it is made available at a reasonable cost, is assembled in Pakistan and has service and support options along with a decent array of charging stations. Small Toyota MIRA or Mercedes Smart Car sized electric cars for commute to and back from the office with mileage in the range of 150-250 km's would be perfect.

The charging stations should also be solar based and only available during daytime to avail solar charging. Get rid of Oil and Petrol altogether, slowly and gradually, from the transport sector atleast.

Exactly, Chinese cars such as Geely can outcompete companies like Toyota, Honda, Nissan (Japan), Hyundai, and KIA (South Korea).

To be successful the car company need to bring something new that toyota or Honda doesn't have.

Most Pakistanis love bigger cars which also have great fuel mileage. This is possible with electric cars. So any new company need to bring in electric cars along with cheap parts availability to compete with established giants like Honda and Toyota. Otherwise they will fail in Pakistani market.

Don't get me wrong, I welcome this company but this is the reality of Pakistani market.
