China to release its own OS

He's probably still nostalgic of his long lost British Empire while ours is rising from the ashes :azn:

LOOL im not nostalgic about anything like that, I wasnt even born when the sun never set on our empire.lool
Im just making a point that, for a country that is a declared adversary/rival of the worlds sole super power U.S, China with its large population/wealth/hard working/skilled workforce and size should have created its own OS long time ago(even if it sisnt as good as those of the U.S, still they should have used it and improve it with time, thats how countries grow). This should have been mandatory for the countries companies to use it and erected virtual barriersto entry for foreign competitors like Android/IOS/MS etc. Just like what Japan did with their Auto industry in the late 60s when western companies were dominanting japans auto industry, now see where the Japanese are, same with the way China restricted western Internet companies which gave some space for their own homegrown tech Giants who today are as big as their American rivals and may son even overtake them.
So what im saying is the your CCP didnt really think things out correctly, they were too short sighted on this. Im even surprised to see they waited so long to create one. For a big country like yours, they should have done it ages ago. Now its too late since American tech companies dominate all the ecosystem in China. Even Chinese people wont use theirs, short of a government ban of foreign OS(which i dont see it happening). So i think it will be another COS.:bounce:

Perhaps it is a failure or maybe not considering China isn't the only country that hasn't developed its own OS from scratch. Every country is either using MS Windows or Linux just like Japan. And that is even more surprising considering Japan is a leading nation when it comes to making computer games. Plenty good coders and not having its own OS is even more remarkable to say the least. Whether it's too late or not i don't know, if China wants to develop its own indigenous OS it can always try if we can breed an army of coders from our gigantic population.

.
A new OS from China will be a gift to the world. A big thanks to China.

Linux open source is a good OS. But Microsoft windows is an abomination, mainly due to too many incompetent Hindu Indians involved in it from the start and its now headed by a Hindu Indian. I hold Bill Gates responsible to make the people of the world suffer with lousy products that come out of lousy minds.

I know Japan doesnt have its own as well(well almost no country int he world does anyway.lol) but then again, Japan is a U.S ally(subordinate if you like). So Japan doesnt have any fears/threat coming from the U.S. However with China its the opposite. Its a main rival/adversary/maybe even ennemy for the U.S. So it should normally have created its own independently no matter the cost/time. since this is crucial for a country's national securit/interests. Thats why i said your leaders/CCP were incompetent in this. If Japan was in china position(being a threat/rival/declared adversary/ennemy of the U.S), then im sure Japan would have long created its own OS long ago. Just my 2 cents.:bounce:

You know why Chinese goverment banned Win 8 but allowed WinXP ? Because Microsoft gave WinXP source code to Chinese goverment but not Win 8.

That's speculation if Japan was in China's shoes. Countries such as Russia and India are in the same position as China yet we haven't developed domestic OS. Like you said Japan made their own domestic cars to compete with the American brands so why hasn't Japan done this with OS? They made their own consoles Nintendo, Sega etc. creating their own hardware and software for their gaming market so why not on the OS front?

.
I know your large/hard working/skilled population is more than enough bro. which begs the question, what have you been waiting to create one?
Answer: the CCP is incompetent unlike what most people think. :agree:
You just remind me how western underestimated our industry ability in many fields .

Our OS might be suck at the beginning compared to MS and apple but we must have our own system .
No matter what , we must support it . We can not trust US gov and US company, they are spying the whole world.

.
LOOOL, I think the communist party are all crooks/corrupt/short sighted/inefficient/incompetent, unlike what others will like us to believe, how a genius they are.lol In fact i think had the KMT(nationalists) been in control of China, then China giving its large hard working/smart/entrepreneurial population would have been self sufficient in all fields today. Too bad Mao won and took them back several decades behind. Its good for us though.:D
Just look at small Taiwan who has largest semi conductor industries/companies like TMSC which China and even countries like South Korea can only dream of. Taiwan(and hong Kong till 1997) were lucky to have escaped the communists. :agree:

The truth is, semi conductor industry's supply chain upstream is still controlled by Japan and Europe, SK/Taiwan/China still rely on European(ASML) photolithography machines, japanese photoresist and silicon ingot. Asian LCD industries still rely on German(Merck KGaA) liquid crystal.

You can't "copy" software that is not open source
You misunderstood what I meant.

remember our first icbm wasn't great either, but now we have DF 41. It will most likely be not as good in the beginning but give it a few years and government promotion and it will be good.

It has nothing to do with CCP being incompetent but it's just a matter of business and market sense. Using establish OS is much safer but since the NSA get exposed, we have no other alternative but to build our own. There is nothing more important than national security. This NSA program will help us in the long term while short term we will suffer. We know that, my friend.

What???:o: Bro, as i said before the U.S sees China as a rival/threat/adversary, so obviously you think the U.S wasnt using its companies to spy on China? o_O In fact they even use their tech companies to spy on we in the E.U, so as to gain Commercial, and technological advantage(which i find normal, since each sane/competent country always tries to protect/further their interest by using any means at its disposal). So i wont condemn/blame the U.S for spying even on us their allies, since thats what countries do, its just that the U.S is too big and sucessful and has the largest spying capabilities on the planet, which other countries are envious/jealous of. :D
So to say China was naive enough not to know U.S tech companies in China werent cooperating with the U.S government for spying is just laughable, that will mean your leaders are even more incompetent/naive more than what i thought. They dont need snowdens revelations to take action, they should have done it long time ago if they were really smart/competent.:agree: This is not a matter of business/commercial sense. its a matter of national security of the whole country IMO. So there are things the government has to finance(even at a heavy loss) to protect the country at some point the sytem will mature and be eventually accepted internationally commercially given your country huge market/population/demand . Just like the U.S doesnt allow any tech companies to operate in its market without a very strict review/approval process by the government. Thats how a forward looking/competent government reacts.:-)

Exactly China still lags behind by miles. :agree:
However, all hope isnt lost, maybe in a decade or two from now you people can catch up a bit. :D Afterall, 2 decades ago, nobody could have even imagine you will be at this level. so all hope isnt lost.:bounce:

India doesnt see the U.S as a threat bro, instead India sees China as a threat. So India doesnt have any beef with the U.S and its continous hegemony. Just look at how silent India was when it was revealed India was among the 4 most spied countries in the world by the U.S. In fact even Brazil(who wasnt even spied upon as India made more noise/anger than India) . So India doesnt have any problem with using U.S tech companies products since it sees no threat from the U.S. So no need/urge for them to create one(though theres also technological diffulties to develop one).

As for Russia, it wouldnt be commercially viable for it to create its own, Since it has a small/declining population anyway. So it doesnt offer the mass scale/demand that China has. So it will have a too small market to even count, thus will be doom from the beginning. But China has both the necessary population base/huge demand/market and technology to develop one(albeit not at par with google/MS/Apple) and make it commercially viable with time. So its just your incompetent/short sighted government who couldnt forsee this on time and plan accordingly. Now its almost too late. except you ban american software/OS in China and impose yours locally on companies(which i dont see happening) you dont stand a chance to be honest.:bounce:

My friend, you have to understand that we join WTO and promise to stick by non-protectionism. We don't want the world, especially the US to say we target their company without a clear justification. The NSA revelation is a nail in the coffin that we now actually have a reason to ban it and the motivation to build our own ecosystem. Remember, you are comparing ourselves a couple decades ago when we lack the technological know-how to do anything. Today we have all the capability to create an ecosystem on our own and the NSA gives us that momentum to do it without the US crying foul to the WTO.
