BEIJING (Sputnik) – China will maintain a high combat readiness level in the disputed area of Doklam (Donglang) near the border with India and Bhutan after reaching an agreement with New Delhi on the disengagement of troops, Director of the Information Office of the Chinese Defense Ministry Wu Qian said on Monday.

Earlier in the day, China and India agreed on the accelerated withdrawal of troops from Doklam.

“On August 28, at 14:30 [06:30 GMT] the Indian party disengaged all its vehicles and personnel. The Chinese party at the scene confirmed this fact. The Chinese troops will maintain the high combat readiness level and will decisively protect the territorial sovereignty of the country,” Wu said in a televised address.

The Defense Ministry pointed out that the security and stability of the Chinese-Indian border was vital for regional and global security.

Beijing called on New Delhi to jointly ensure peace and stability in the border area, as well as to promote the development of normal relations between the countries’ Armed Forces.

India and China have been locked in a border standoff since mid-June. The confrontation began after Indian troops blocked Chinese road construction in the disputed area of Doklam near the Sikkim state, where Delhi supports Bhutan’s territorial claims.

China insists that the territorial dispute in Sikkim was resolved as long ago as in 1890, when Beijing and the British Empire signed the so-called Convention of Calcutta, which defined Sikkim’s borders. However, India-backed Bhutan is convinced that Beijing’s attempt to extend a road to the Doklam area goes against a China-Bhutan agreement on maintaining peace in the region until the dispute is resolved.

TBH India has humiliated china on this issue, so far. Future may bring change but still.....

There is nothing about humiliation in this. I mean militarily China is far mightier than India but obtaining a complete decisive victory is difficult and highly unlikely. Moreover Doklam might be important, but not too important to risk the lives of men in uniform for China. But it's a serious threat to India and Butan if even they succeed in building the road. So the commitment of either side will depend greatly on the importance of the scenario I guess. :)

lol do an unbiased analysis and you will realize.

Alright, let's do an unbiased analysis. :P From the official statements of both sides:

1) India withdrew all troops from Donglang, leaving it in Chinese hands

2) According to the official Chinese spokesperson, Chinese troops and garrisons will be maintained in Donglang, and the ROAD as well as all other construction plans in Donglang are going to be completed

What is the conclusion? What did India get for their withdrawal?

"We will make an overall assessment of the weather conditions and all related factors, and according to the actual circumstances complete construction plans for the Dong Lang (Doklam) area," spokesperson Hua Chunying told a daily news briefing.

The bottom line is road ,that's the reason for standoff not about any claims.

The road construction has been stopped hasn't it .now let the neutral people make their our interpretation.

"But the quick deescalation of the situation ahead of the summit shows that Modi has withstood Chinese pressure and forced Beijing to back down, "

So now India is OK with China occupying Donglang, which India considers to be Bhutan's territory?

What happened to India's mutual defence treaty with Bhutan? Why did India abandon Bhutan?

.
And how they humiliated China?

By retreating unilaterally?
Their dirty squatters defecated on our land for two months to delay road construction before being chased off by PLA with lathi. So now India is a shupa powa. Staring down the dragon. Jai Hind!

Show me one word where it says we are constructing the road or where we will construct the road in near future. All it has said is for domestic audience. If China continues to make baseless comments then India might be forced to release what went into diplomacy.

All words and till now India has allowed China an dignified exit.

Bhutan has to tell that to us. Its only China claims its their territory. Did India claim Doklam is Chinese territory? Bhutan has to tell that. We are ok with status quo. Understand India have never protested China "patrolling" Doklam before. Like how we patrol in "each other" areas across LAC. Its just the road India and Bhutan have problems with as it will change the status quo.
Even Bhutan claims it patrols Doklam and has an camp just 15km from there. China can patrol, pitch in tents etc except building any permanent structures.

BEIJING, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese border troops are continuing their patrolling and defending the Dong Lang (Doklam) area, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.

"We will make an overall assessment of the weather conditions and all related factors, and according to the actual circumstances complete construction plans for the Dong Lang (Doklam) area," spokesperson Hua Chunying told a daily news briefing.

On June 18, over 270 armed Indian troops with two bulldozers crossed the boundary into Dong Lang (Doklam), Chinese sovereign territory, to obstruct infrastructure construction.

China Monday confirmed that India had withdrawn personnel and equipment from Dong Lang (Doklam) after a military stand-off lasting more than two months.

Dong Lang (Doklam), which borders India's Sikkim state to the west and the Kingdom of Bhutan to the south, is part of Chinese territory and has been under Chinese rule for a very long time.

Hua said for a long period of time, China has constructed infrastructure facilities including roads to meet the needs of soldiers and civilians, and improve their living conditions.

1) China did not withdraw
2) China will continue construction.
