ISLAMABAD: China will invest over $1 billion in the information technology sector in Pakistan following the Memorandum of Understanding signed by President Asif Ali Zardari during his visit to China last year.

To discuss the modalities for the investment, the Ambassador of China in Islamabad Lou Zhaohui met with the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Information Technology Latif Khosa on Wednesday. China would invest in three sub-sectors of information technology for re-strengthening the sector, Khosa said. He assured the envoy that all bureaucratic bottlenecks in the way of implementing the projects would be overcome.

He said that the government is making all-out efforts to give impetus to the technology sector with the ultimate aim to create more job opportunities for talented youth. Khosa praised the Chinese ambassador for taking keen interest in further strengthening existing bonds between Pakistan and China. The ambassador also discussed arrangements for the upcoming visit of the vice prime minister and the minister for information technology of China to Pakistan in the coming weeks.

There was news some time back that China to invest $60b in pakistan in next 5 years. Is it on top of it?

Great news...However how is the infrastructure in the proposed site???

I can give you a sloppy example of Gurgaon...Udyog Vihar was created to provide land for development since many IT companies and BPO's were looking for new place.... There is more to it but that is not relevant...The whole land was owned by DLF and they started making office buildings...The demand was so great that within days multi story buildings were built and places given to companies...So if you take an aerial view you will think that you are in United States....However when it comes to infrastructure Gurgaon failed miserably...I still remmber Fire broke out in the 15th story of my office building and Gurgain Fire Department had to call in help from Delhi...reason : they did not have means to reach that high and fight fire......In fact not much though was given to width of roads between two lanes...Parking space etc etc...result during rush hours it sometimes take more than 45 minutes to cross a 200 meter journey...pathetic...

I think any new place who is under development should take Gurgaon Udyog Vihar as a case study of how to avoid such disaster....

well if the terrorism finshes

every country in this world will invest in pak..

Ya "sona munda" Asif Ali Zardari kahan se aa gea bech me. He never looks decent in any photograph.. Don't know if every camera turns bad or is it result of his deeds.

By the way, a country that has Khosa as Minister for Information Technology can only end up making something that.
