China to fund regional railway hub for Pakistan

No country funds critical infrastructure in another country unless it is for their own strategic important. Think of Pakistan getting sucked into unnecessary war with India if the Chinese decide to use the railways for their rapid commando movements!

Azadi ke ibteda zehniat sa hote ha...apne soch azad ker lo mulk khud he azad ho jaye ga!

...What stops pakistan from becoming a province of China..??
Nothing.
Economically they are becoming one...but mentally they have become one..

...Azad rahe ki to soch hi mar gayi...
Bharat se dost nahi bane ge...chahe to kisi ke Gulam ban jaye...:azn:
Good work China.:china:

pakistan has the best location possible in asia only after china,it is connected to east asia through china and central and west through iran and tajikistan.the third place belongs to india.

thus it can have an excellent rail connectivity throughout asia.

Once past the blockage of Attabad Lake, getting a railway line over the 4,700 meter high Khunjerab pass is not going to be easy or cheap.

If you don't like the current China Pakistan relations you should take that up with Jawaharlal Nehru, if he didn't start the 1962 war with his Forward Policy then China wouldn't care eitherway in India Pakistan relations.

PESHAWAR – The Chairman Department of International Relations said the old slogans of deeper than sea and higher than sky for Pak- China relations must be transformed into something tangible by boosting economic ties. If other regional countries can have alliances and organizations like NATO etc, why can’t we have IPC (India Pakistan China) or APC (Afghanistan Pakistan China) cooperation’s to boost regional peace and economy..

Any Indian friends paying attention? For long we have been hearing from Indian friends about Trilateral relations, though they did not conceive of them in this formulation -- Friends, we can do great things, but first things first, get the vision straight, an IPC or APC is just the beginning, a small beginning, but others would want to join if we can show that even though there are problems, we can come together around building more dignified lives for our peoples.

And Pakistanis - Are you listening?? More business, More trade - already the Chinese are saying lets go beyond slogans-- don't take this for granted - please do keep asking why it is taking so long to increase the volume of trade with China and insist on a speedier and deeper involvement

Interesting and brilliant suggestion. Only question remains : Are we intelligent enough to rise over political slogans ..?

i think chinese are like hindu baniyas, they won't invest single yen without double return, what are they getting here in return.

It will take a party with a very strong majority and some really courageous politicians -- both in short supply -- but if this "vision" can be propagated in society, the task will become so much easier -- Indians and Pakistanis keep spinning their whee with their litany of problems and we don't seem to get past these - if we can get the business community to see their self interest in such a relationship, governments will follow. But to get there we have to keep the idea alive, and get people to talk about it - Any publicity is good publicity

Yaar i dont get 1 thing KAB TAK PAKISTAN Dusro per depended rahe ga KAB Tak Hum Log khud Kuch nhi karee ge

Pakistan has all the raw material for construction and army of men , and machine that can build mega cities yet , we wait for finances from outside to make things happen

The country cannot extract "resources from its own backyard" and use its own men / women to build thing

Sad , mean while Nations like Japan can recover from Nuclear bomb explosions and Tsunami out of their own power

on a slightly off topic note, I think Pakistan should switch from driving on the left to driving on the right, this will connect Pakistan to China, Afghanistan, Iran and the rest of the world.

Here is a map of the world who drive on the left vs right.

Pakistan and India are like an island on this map, and that is not good for cross country travel.

Then who will buy all those old JDM cars and parts?

Then who will buy all those old JDM cars and parts?

I know you are saying this as a joke, but I will tell you what I have been to Japan and there are a lot of Pakistani buisnessmen there who buy used Japanese cars, change the steering wheel and send them to countries like the Philippines and parts of Africa.

But in reality, Pakistan needs to develop indigenous auto industry. We need to give tax breaks and help local manufacturers and impose high import taxes on foreign cars. On top of that, we need to implement strict pollution controls so that local manufacturers cannot simply make a POS 30 year old car over and over again.

I agree with that completely.

Salaam to all the Muslims,

Brother, things don't come true on wishful thinking.

Many Pakistanis on this forum will probably have enough money to set up a very small / tiny wind farm in a very small village in Pakistan to generate electricity, but people are not going to do it even if there's small profit to be made.

Salaam to all the Muslims.
