China to build $1.5bn science park in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - China on Wednesday agreed to invest $1.5 billion to set up Pakistan-China Science Park in Islamabad.


Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanvir Hussain - who is on a visit to China - signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with his Chinese counterpart UN Urmaqi. He also invited the Chinese investers to visit Islamabad in next month to select location for construction of the Park by March 2016. He expressed his gratitude for huge investment in Pakistan.


The minister said that Pakistan and China had a lot to share with each other in term of technology, expertise and business. “We are looking to strengthen our mutual ties on economic as well as technological fronts,” he said, adding that this project would prove to be a link of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It would bring prosperity to the people of both sides.

A very good step. Those that criticize for the sake of it will criticize everything. Science park is very much needed as pakistan desperately needs to improve its scientific sector. The talent is there what we need is nurturing and a science park can provide that. Islamabad can be a good place as its a neutral federal territory and close to kpk as well along with benefiting the northern areas as well. We need these parks all over pakistan and if the four provincial parties actually move forward to bring such scientific advancements rather than complaining then we can actually see pakistan unearth its scientific potential which I personally believe is untapped and massive.

So a good step and its good that such highbgrade projects are being done quickly however they must be completed and completed right.

A very good news, but I have one thing to critisize. Our writers are masters in writing superficial articles. This article main points could actually be told in like 2-3 lines. There is no mention of exactly which sciences the park will contain, how many ppl can work/study there. Is any Pak university attached to it or will be?

No Einstein, I don't know what a Science Park in Pakistan is, but sure as hell know it shouldn't cost 1.5 billion USD.
