Taiwan Seizes Japanese Food From Radiation Affected Areas

25.03.2015(

Japanese food from areas contaminated by radiation near the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster was found in Taiwan and ordered taken off the shelves.

The Food and Drug Administration found 283 items of Japanese food with counterfeit labels, in Chinese language, in local supermarkets in early February.

However, the government did not order the removal until March 19, the German news agency dpa reported on Wednesday.

The food products — including instant noodles, black tea, coffee and sweets — were falsely covered with stickers purporting to show manufacturing in Tokyo, Osaka, Hokkaido and even parts of the United States, state-run Central News Agency said.

Food products from the Japanese prefectures of Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gumma and Chiba have been banned in Taiwan since March 30, 2011, the FDA said.

Normally our friend Taishang does not make such hurtful and abrasive comments, and generally he had shown the most respect for Sino Japanese relationship here , out of th vast number of Chinese posters I've come into contact in PDF.

That news is from a Japanese newspaper, my friend. Food security is more of a direct concern to me than many other non-traditional security threats. Hence, I just share the news and my observation. :) And, I have not been biased because I also pointed out the not so clean record of my own land in terms of food security, e.g, gutter oil which has nothing to do with others.

I often tend to share news related to economic and scientific development unlike some others who like to militarize and antogonize everything, from port visits to defence cooperation, which are always against somebody, by their nature.

I am still a pro-sovereignty developmentalist :)

whatever you say doesnt change the fact that its a nuclear meltdown and the reactors are still leaking radiation constantly, seeping into japans underground drinking water then spread to the whole country.

not nearly enough. japan is skrewing the whole world.

British supermarket won't be safe from radiated products from Japan... Independent U.K news says due to food safety loophole, Fukushima food is entering U.K without issue.

Jack Ma receives honorary doctorate in Taiwan

Jack Ma, founder of China’s e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Pedagogy from Taiwan Normal University on Friday.

This makes Ma the first person from Chinese mainland to receive an honorary doctoral degree at the university.

According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, the honorary degree was given to Ma in recognition of his background as a teacher (Ma was an English teacher at a Hangzhou college in the late 1980s), and his success in building a company with international influence.

Ma said that the degree will allow him to contribute more to the education of China’s youth. He also said that he would like to teach at Taiwan Normal University one day, to share his experience in education and business management.
