China Strongly Supporting Sri Lanka
At the United Nations Security Council.

UN Security Council meeting on Sri Lanka was described to Inner City Press by a range of Council diplomats. Non-permanent Council members including Austria, Mexico and Costa Rica have requested the meeting for March 26; under the heading "Other Matters" since Sri Lanka is still not a formal item on the Council's agenda.

China is "vehemently" opposing any discussion in the Security Council
About Sri Lanka. China argues that it is "merely an internal matter," and not a threat to international peace and security.

Sri Lanka's mission to the UN has contacted Council members and made this same argument.

But Non-permanent Council members including Austria, Mexico and Costa Rica calling a procedural vote on Sri Lanka.

China may use veto power to protect Sri Lanka at the UN Security Council.

Hope the civil war will be ended soon. In the long run, the even harder nut to crack is the post war reconciliation between ethnic groups. Only by winning the heart of Tamil people can bring Sri Lanka perpetual peace.
